Posted December 24, 20177 yr So do you class the 1996 Christmas Number 1 as a Christmas song even though it's really about sex?
December 24, 20177 yr No it isn't a Christmas song I don't think. No, not at all. Same with The Power Of Love & Stay Another Day. The Power Of Love could be interpreted as having a religious theme though.
December 24, 20177 yr No it isn’t but it was Christmas no.1 and reminds me of Christmas. It does remind a me a little of Christmas too when I listen to it because of that fact.
December 24, 20177 yr Author Forgot to mention that the winter coats and an ice rink in the video could be attributed to it being a Christmas song.
December 24, 20177 yr So then Robbie Williams' She's The One is therefore a Christmas song due to prominently featuring an ice rink :P
December 24, 20177 yr I consider them xmas songs because I only ever hear them in December in the radio even if they don't sing about xmas! Perfect will be the same from this year now I would say!
December 24, 20177 yr nah It's not a christmas song but it does have a christmassy sort of vibe, like Stay Another Day, probs just cus of it being played at christmas
December 24, 20177 yr I wouldn't consider it a Christmas song in the strictest of senses, but for reasons already mentioned (Christmas #1, winter themed video & played more at this time of year) it makes me think of Christmas! I include 2 Become 1 (and their other 2 Christmas #1s) in my Christmas play list.
December 24, 20177 yr Yeh so do I! It's like older carols such as In the Bleak Mid Winter - you could say aren't Christmas songs but they are always focused and heard in December!
December 24, 20177 yr I wouldn't class it as a 'Christmas song' per sé but I do associate it with Christmas at the same time if that makes sense  The song was a Christmas #1 for the Spice Girls, but they had three of those, so I guess the wintery video is a reason also. Although... 'Goodbye' has one too, so maybe this song housing more warm and romantic lyrics also plays a part, as opposed to a farewell song. I see it a fair bit on the music channels each December and hear it a bit on the radio as well, so I will forever have a bit of a festive connection to '2 Become 1'. But the song itself isn't thematically about Christmas (instead safe sex) so I wouldn't file it as a Christmas song. No mention of the day itself, santa, jingle bells, Christmas trees... nothing. Much like 'Too Lost In You' by Sugababes which is another girlgroup song that isn't specifically about the festive season, but that music channels play at this time of year. A quick mention of Christmas doesn't qualify for me btw, otherwise you could say Little Mix - 'Move' was a Christmas song ("feeling like it's my birthday, like Christmas day came early") - just a song that is thematically festive throughout.
December 24, 20177 yr No, not at all. Same with The Power Of Love & Stay Another Day. This!! A beautiful song and very evocative of Christmas, but just like East17, or Die Hard, 'twas just a song just before Christmas. Nothi g else. Howeverrrr, like Lily Allen, Gabrielle Aplin, etc, I usually only play it around Xmas time... Maybe a pseudo-Christmas song then...
January 26, 20187 yr I wouldn't really class it as a Christmas song. Because it's basically about sex. And Even though a song might get released during Christmas it doesn't really mean that it has anything to with Christmas and this is the case for 2 Become1, Too Much & Goodbye
January 26, 20187 yr Not at all. I only play Christmas songs in December I play 2 become 1 all year round. I also don't include it in my Christmas playlists, I only include Christmas wrapping by the girls (which I LOVE)
January 26, 20187 yr Christmas Wrapping is crap as it has no bass, is very plastic and only features TWO of them. Sleigh Ride is MUCH better and by thr actual Spice Girls.
January 27, 20187 yr No, I dont think of it as a Xmas song at all, although it always conjures up an image of winter time for me
