White men are the dominant force in society still... like by a lot. We don't even have equal pay yet. Female stars are set against each other and have fan wars, reducing their longevity. Radio1 FAPS over Pharrell, Robin Thycke etc but refuses to play women over a certain age...

 

People should highlight sexism. It's still not gone.

Out of 14 #1s last year, only 3 had a woman credited as the lead artist (and one of those featured a man)... and you don't think sexism exists in music?

I am going against popular opinion here but I don't think there is sexism in music tbh. Radio stations play a wide range of songs from both male and female artists, there is a market for both and both male and female artists do chart highly.

ie. a sign that last year simply had some pretty huge tracks by men. It's not sexism, it's just that huge hits from women were scarce in the first half of the year. In the latter part of the year, Taylor, Dua, P!nk, Camila, Rita and others proved, whether they got to #1 or not, that women can just as easily get big hits...

I want to apologise for my language and messages but I am so frustrated at what's happening in music. I have been a big fan of Justin for years and he is very talented but is getting abuse no matter what he does. He speaks up about racism and feminist issues...gets abuse....says nothing....gets abuse.

Females definitely struggle on streaming services. Out of the top 100 most streamed songs, there are only about 7 female only songs and only 3 in the top 50 (Hello, Chandelier and Cheap Thrills)
