It is really interesting to see the generational differences. I was just a little too young for Spice Girls, but the right age for late All Saints and early Sugababes/Girls Aloud. I'm clearly biased because I grew up with them but I really don't think girlbands have been as experimental or as willing to take risks with their sound as those three. Later Sugababes less so for obvious reasons.

I was quite surprised that I could only make room for two Saturdays songs in my Top 40. I was really hoping I could fit in some Eternal songs too, but their highest placed song for me is Angel of Mine, 43rd. :(

I was (semi) joking :lol:

 

However I don't think Girls Aloud's music is ageing as well as the Spice Girls though tbh. I'm a huge Girls Aloud fan and love their songs but I genuinely feel like all the singles from the first 2 Spice Girls albums, although they very much belong to the time, have stood the test of time far more than Girls Aloud or Sugababes have. Already GA and Sugas are like a distant memory and yet 20 years ago Spice Girls songs and performances are still hugely remembered. Even Destiny's Child's and TLC's songs feel a bit more classic / remembered (even if I much prefer GA and Sugas) Little Mix very much belong to the GA category aswell.

I like girls aloud , but I didn’t ever purchase one single from them . I do however have the sound of girls aloud and then 10. I even ended up in the video for Walk this way randomly.

 

They just didn’t make my top 40.

 

Sound of the underground , life got cold and a whole lot of history are prob my faves from them.

 

I chose songs that i loved and purchased in single format , songs that hold a lot of memories .

I am 33 so late ninetys was really my era :)
