What happened to Paloma Faith Make your own kind of Music can’t see it anywhere?

The single has been removed to encourage people to download it from the album (which it has now been added to for downloads & streaming).

Honestly, I don't see what's so special about This is America, I much prefer the other song he performed on SNL "Saturday".

I think the music video is helping a lot, quite shocking but it's to make a statement about school shootings in America.

There's much more to it than it being "about shootings" tbh.

He is also saying all that stuff is happening and they're trying to cover it up with meme's and dance routines etc.. And people are just accepting it/"sleeping" and not realising what's happening/accepting it. "This Is America". There's so many hidden things and other themes in the video. Like, how gently the guns are handled with (like they're more important than life), everyone running away and screaming the time he doesn't have a gun etc...

I'm sure there are loads of Buzzfeed like articles or something that can help dissect everything if my post confuses you.

I've also read it's a dig at a lot of hip-hop artists too. The message of the song makes sense, but I need to read up on how that's interpreted in the video.

EVERYTHING in the video/sound is so clever, it's every reason why Childish Gambino is such a genius

Childish Gambino headlined a festival I went to in NYC last summer (Governor's Ball, one of, if not the, biggest in NYC) and had a massive crowd. I think his profile is much bigger in the States and he definitely deserves more success here.

(Incidentally Dua Lipa was also at the festival and was, naturally, amazing. Although it was before she had released New Rules so she had a relatively small crowd)

I think Childish Gambino is a bigger name than his (lack of) singles chart success would indicate, under today's chart climate I think 'Bonfire' and '3005' in particular could have been much bigger hits. I haven't heard his new song yet but need to check it out ASAP, cool to see him looking like getting a big hit at last anyway!
3005 would've definitely been a hit now, was very surprised it didn't do better back when it was released. If This Is America becomes a hit and goes Top 40 (or even higher!), it will be one of the biggest highlights of this year for me. As others have said, so much meaning in the song and it's video.
It might be wishful thinking, but as they're signed by Syco, I hope LSD get to perform on the BGT live shows, it would definitely boost them a lot.

Donald at #6 is incredible to see - no exaggeration when I say it's one of a very few outstanding tracks I've heard this year. Begging for it to be a huge hit.

Just listened on iTunes.... it’s not good?

Just saw this post on Buzzjack.... it's not good?

The fact that you openly champion '2002' yet consider TIA 'not good' really makes me despair.

2002 is like this decade's version of SOS by Rihanna.

SOS referenced lots of 80's hit songs in its lyrics, whilst 2002 references late 90's/early 00's hits songs in its lyrics.

Childish Gambino's song can be interpreted in a million ways. In the US, Republicans will consider it a song about black on black crime, Democrats will consider it a song about gun violence. I like Childish Gambino, but I think he actually played it safe by making things so vague.

I think it could have been a hit at the time. If you listen to it closely, it follows the same formula as songs like Only Girl and Firework, especially in the chorus.

Childish Gambino had a song years ago which was "track of the day" on Radio 1 or something like that. I remember it got a good boost on iTunes from it but I can't remember the name of it.

One of my favourite songs from him is Sober.

Another one of his songs that I like is Heartbeat. A lot of people think Macklemore - Can't Hold Us rips off Heartbeat. I think it's a bit of an over-exaggeration, but they do sound similar if you listen. There are a few mash-ups on Youtube.

I liked 3005, I also liked Bonfire (a Nick Grimshaw's night time show fave back in 2012!)
