I don’t think there’s ever been an artist that I’ve loved SO MUCH descend into such mediocrity. True Romance and SUCKER were excellent, everything else has been pretty good, at best, this is no exception - it’s alright, just a bit meh.

Added to my playlist in the hope it grows though...

Sucker is her worst body of work (bar a couple of songs) even she hates that album. Both her Mixtapes have been far superior.

Saying the Charli doesn’t like it doesn’t mean that *I* can’t love it. :P Anyway, I’m 99% sure she’ll get bored of this trend-chasing sound she’s currently doing, soon enough.

I liked Sucker because it was different, there wasn't anyone else doing that at the time.

Agreed, I loved it when Charli went did whatever everyone else wasn’t doing. It made her music sound fresh, which is probably why I loved it so much.

Loving this but it’s not up to the highs of the last two mixtapes for me yet, which are her best work so far.

I don’t agree about her being trend-chasing with the mixtapes at all though, how many other popstars are fully embracing the abrasive, industrial style she went with for Pop 2?

I agree. And she seems to be part of a group of artists that are all doing the same: Mø, Alma, Max Hershenow... They've all gone from making excellent and exciting pop music to something that's all style over substance.

I'm listening to Stay Away instead.

Yeah I'm really confused with that rationale, the whole reason the mixtapes were so good is that she was doing what she wanted and something different not just to her usual material but pretty much all pop atm!

Ok, listening to the mixtapes again (I haven’t listened to them - except from when they were both initially released), and I can see that they’re not really the trend-chasing sound that she’s coming out with in her singles (‘After the Afterparty’, ‘Boys’ and this, I’m looking at you). Still not really excellent though. :(
Also this is pretty terrible - now this IS trend chasing  Musically it's a bit like a Drake reject or something, just so bland and Spotify urban playlist fodder.

Completely disagree. Sure MØ (especially) and Alma have lost their way after tasting success but Charli? Her mixtapes are superior to both of her albums - they're two inventive pop records that are pretty removed from the mainstream. I much prefer the Charli who is willing to explore and see what happens rather than an artist trying to chase a hit.

I don't mind 5 in the Morning, it's clearly not a single and perhaps the start of her just releasing music whenever she wants.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. Ever since the Vroom Vroom EP I haven't liked anything she's released... She'd better step it up for the next actual album.

I agree that they're removed from the mainstream and not trend chasing, as some have suggested. But I think they're all style over substance. Yeah, the production is pretty good but she has forgotten some pretty basic pop essentials like writing a decent hook and melody. Most songs on the mix tapes are repetitive and annoying. I only really listen to Drugs and Dreamer.

This is an awful Rihanna-wannabe track
