What makes you think they're def coming back!?

Has it been confirmed anywhere?

Jade was in the studio with Justin Tranter a couple of days ago writing.

Edit: either way, I suspect they should get a huge lead on iTunes whenever they release.

Do we know Drake’s release date? Was thinking if all his album tracks get like 1 million streams, he coild get a ‘free’ @1 even with a random track or even with track 1 (people stream in order)

Even with 0 real itunes sales he could manage @1

Just read Clean Demi is now track @1 on hot hits

If the label is smart and makes it 59p on itunes, it might have a chance next week

There’s so many strong songs in the upper half of the chart right now (or coming out soon) it’s reminding me of this time 2016... so many songs missing out on higher peaks because of behemoths like One Dance, TIWYCF, CSTF, etc.
Mainly because it was a promo single and more downbeat than his last two, so it obviously wasn't going to do as well.

That old chestnut if a single doesn't do how people expect its suddenly a promo single

And on the little mix thing well if you don't include the GD repack its been nearly 2 years since a new album which if history is to go by would suggest something is coming soon (however just guess work)

This time in 2016 >>>>> now

2018 doesn’t hold a candle to 2016 musically... or even to 2017 :/

I voted Jess but I fear it might be Anne-Marie :/

Well atleast then the OCC might do something about album streaming feeding into the singles chart

Guessing a typo but 2018 can't hold a candle to 20018 makes no sense

I kind of view 2016 as the start of the rot where people started trying to make these "Spotify friendly" chart trends that we're now lumbered with, I see little difference between then and now. I think 2015 is the last year I'll truly look back on fondly for a while.

Yeah, this was when streaming really started impacting the charts, resulting in quite a few songs not making top 40 due to loads of songs hogging up the charts.

We have ACR now which has helped turnover but the damage to quality is already done

Yeah and I don't understand how some people see trying to a write a song with Spotify in mind as a good thing or when people just dismiss it just the way things are now, (or how and why some people here think streaming actually makes the chart represent what people like more than it used to, us who like some alternative music don't exist then? ) it's not only made the charts slower it's dipped the quality of the music in it as well, we really need to stop this rot but I'm not sure how that can be done right now. The OCC need to find a way to stop these playlists influencing the charts so much anyway, it should be about what people like rather than what people have come across on a popular playlist.

On topic: Jess Glynne will get it for a couple of weeks or so and then Clean Bandit. After that it'll be another 'big name', will we get anyone having their first number one at all this year?

Yeah 'Clean Demi' is at least better than 'Clean Lovato', which reminds me of 'clean lavatory' ;)

It's as a feature, but Dan Caplen got his first #1.

But playlists are surely a valid way of discovering music? There's more choice involved than listening on the radio for example. If people don't like, they can switch it off and move onto a new song. Besides, there have always been ways that record labels can manipulate the chart. If these playlists were removed, a user-created playlist would probably blow up instead. People are lazy, it's not Spotify's fault, they're just exploiting the laziness with some payola from record labels. Can't really blame them.

How is it much different from a few years ago when people trying to write a song with commercial radio airplay and iTunes downloads in mind. There will always be artists/songwriters/producers trying to jump on the latest chart trend in an attempt to score a big chart hit.

Clearly people who like alternative music exist but not as many as those who listen to Top 40 hits, not to mention many alternative fans buy albums rather than pay for a Spotify subscription (alternative acts are still well represented in the album chart though usually they have silly chart runs like 10-OUT from them not being that accessible to those outside their small dedicated fanbase).

As long as Spotify exists, their playlists will have some impact on the chart. If the OCC could somehow take away streams from people listening to a popular playlist, that wouldn't be reflective of the many people who use those playlists to find new music. That would defeat the purpose of making a chart accurate of everyone's general listening habits.

Dame Jess Glynne of course ☺
Whether it’s Jess Glynne or Anne-Marie, I’m just glad that we’re getting a female solo #1 again. We haven’t had one since New Rules have we?

Taylor!
