As I thought, didn't even mention the name of the 6ix9ine track. Good decision Radio 1.

This is sounding very good, great to see them get a second Top 40 hit this era

Biography

Ariana Grande-Butera (/ˌɑːriˈɑːnə ˈɡrɑːndeɪ/; born June 26, 1993) is an American singer and actress. She began her career in 2008 in the Broadway musical 13, before playing the role of Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television series Victorious (2010–2013) and in the spinoff Sam & Cat (2013–2014). She has also appeared in other theatre and television roles and has lent her voice to animated television and films.

Grande's music career began in 2011 with the soundtrack Music from Victorious. In 2013, she released her first studio album Yours Truly, which entered atop the US Billboard 200. The album's lead single, "The Way", debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, with critics comparing her wide vocal range to that of Mariah Carey.

Grande's second studio album, My Everything (2014), entered at number one in the US and charted in the top 10 in 24 other countries. With the lead single "Problem" and several other singles, she was continuously in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for 34 weeks and had the most top 10 singles of any artist in 2014. The next year, Grande gave her first world tour, The Honeymoon Tour, to promote My Everything. In 2016, she released her third studio album Dangerous Woman, which charted at number two on the Billboard 200. Its title track debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Grande the first person in the history of that chart to have the lead singles from each of their first three albums debut within the top 10 in the US. In 2017, Grande gave her international Dangerous Woman Tour. She plans to release her fourth studio album, Sweetener, in August 2018.

As of June 2018, Grande's music videos had been viewed a total of more than ten billion times online. Her accolades include three American Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award and four Grammy Award nominations. All three of her albums have been certified platinum by the RIAA. She has supported a range of charities and has a large following on social media. In 2016, Time named Grande one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their annual list. - Wikipedia

Biography

Introducing ZieZie, the south London talent with an eclectic sound and dreams to make it big. Though he has only been making music since December 2016, the 19-year-old from Croydon has made big waves already, with his track 'Mingle' reaching 1.2 million YouTube views and having signed a record deal with Sony RCA. With infectious melodies, unforgettable lyrics and upper-echelon performance energies, this young man is going places fast.

ZieZie was born into a Congolese family, and his late father granted him the name he would later don, which has proven to have become a self-fulfilling prophecy. "My dad used to call me ZeZe when I was younger, which means someone who's very active, creative and crazy," he explains. "Everyone had a nickname and so that became mine."

He began singing at the age of 11, joining the school choir after being encouraged by his teachers, and immersed himself in different genres that have had an indelible mark on his style. He describes his music as versatile, saying: "I mix up the genres. I could do rock music, a ballad, afrobeats, hip-hop, so I haven't got a fixed genre. Ever since I was younger, I was open to different sounds as long as I liked it." Growing up, ZieZie took to US rap and his earliest influence Lil Wayne, before immersing himself in the music of Beyonce, Rihanna and Drake, but his is a style that he has methodically put together to stand out from the pack. "I'm a visual learner, so when I see someone, I need to make sure I'm putting my spin on it," he says. "When someone listens to me they can't trace it back to that person. I didn't want to get into music without having a unique sound, so I had to make sure it was."

Balancing a full-time education at college, his mother's sudden departure to the Congo to care for his ailing grandmother in 2016 gave ZieZie the chance to spread his musical wings. "I had to miss a week of college to look after my little brother and sister," he recalls.

"She ended up not coming back for about five months, so I missed all that time of college and I was thinking about what I wanted to do in life. So, I thought, with music, what have I got to lose, so I put my all in and didn't give myself a Plan B."

ZieZie posted his first song on Soundcloud at the end of that year, and now working closely with the skilful production duo, Ill Blu ,he is honing in on crafting his infusion of Afrobeat productions, dancehall melodies & the high energy of UK Rap. His latest single 'Fine Girl' is sitting pretty with 1.5 million Spotify streams, but he strives for so much more with his music. "I want [my music] to bring people together, to listen and feel comfortable in an open environment," he says. "Some people are shook to listen to a particular type of music around their friends because they think they might be judged. But I want them to listen to my music in front of their friends and vibe to it, take it away and share it with their friends. I like to keep my music clean in the sense that I'm giving out a good message to the youth. I want them to listen to my music and think differently about life." ZieZie's magnetic force and undeterred focus on music sets him apart and, with a debut album planned for this year, an exciting 2018 is on his horizon. - Primary Talent

The 1975 *.* rly liking this one, big step up from Give Yourself a Try (they gotta find a proper edit for those first two lines lol)

6ix9ine being skipped :cheer: even all his actions aside the song is utter shite

Great to see some Indie genre tracks back into the charts.

Unfortunately we only seem to be getting any rock/indie music in the chart if the artist has a big reputation :(

--

I really like "Fine Girl" which I was surprised at when I first listened to it.

Pfft...

That's one of their better songs as well but nowhere close. x

Yess for The 1975 managing a (fairly comfortable) top 40 hit again, wasn't sure if they'd manage it this time! Appropriate title :magic: I do wonder if there might still be Spotify data missing though... anyway, really loving both of the singles from this era, I wasn't really into their last album aside from 'Somebody Else' but they're back with power *.*

Scott addressing 6ix9ine by his old stage name. Interesting. :P

The 1975 aren't really doing it for me this era. Shame as I really liked a few of the tracks from the last album!
First time hearing 'Fine Girl' and liking it quite a bit, reminding me a lot of Fuse ODG's 'Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)' (he even said 'badder than bad' in it).

Biography

Multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Tom Walker blends hip-hop-inspired beats, eclectic samples, and traditional songwriting in his music. Born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, England, Walker grew up listening to Ray Charles, the Police, and Bob Marley from his father's record collection, and taught himself how to play drums, guitar, piano, and bass. After studying songwriting at London's College of Contemporary Music, Walker began making music in earnest, collaborating with his housemates -- who included members of Whilk & Misky -- in their home studio. One of his songs, 2016's "Sun Goes Down," interpolated the '30s work song "I'll Be So Glad When the Sun Goes Down" and featured poet/musician Kojey Radical. The track earned acclaim and airplay on Radio 1, and Walker signed to Relentless soon after. His official debut single, "Fly Away with Me," arrived later that year. The Blessings EP was released in April 2017, along with a pair of singles, "Heartland" and "Leave a Light On." - iTunes

Biography

Part of the explosion of Dutch EDM DJs who emerged during the 2012-2013 season, Martin Garrix kicked off his career in a high-profile way, first landing on the dance charts with his 2012 remix of Christina Aguilera's "Your Body." Born Martijn Garritsen, the then-16-year-old DJ spent 2012 remixing Aguilera, signing with Spinnin' Records, and releasing the "BFAM" single in collaboration with Julian Jordan. In 2013 he released his solo single, "Animals," which hit number one in the U.K. and reached the Top Ten in eight other countries.

The following year was a busy one: early in 2014, "Wizard" (featuring Jay Hardway) charted Top Ten across Europe, and "Helicopter" (featuring Firebeatz) did nearly as well. His Gold Skies EP rounded up those tracks, adding two more charting songs: "Tremor" (featuring Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike) and the title track (featuring Sander van Doorn and DVBBS). Garrix also found time to perform and mix the world over, climbing as high as number four in DJ Magazine's Top 100 list. He also worked on new material with artists ranging from Afrojack to Ed Sheeran.

In early 2015, experiments in progressive house led to the release of "Forbidden Voices," which he quickly followed with the Usher-assisted "Don't Look Down." Garrix's busy year continued as he collaborated on singles with Ed Sheeran, Avicii, Tiësto, and later, the Break Through the Silence EP with Russian DJs Matisse & Sadko. After splitting with Spinnin' Records, Garrix launched his own STMPD RCRDS label, which he inaugurated with the single "Now That I've Found You" in March 2016. Months later, it was announced that Garrix had inked a deal with Sony Music International. By year's end, he was named DJ Mag's top DJ in the world.

In addition to "In the Name of Love," his 2016 multiplatinum hit single with Bebe Rexha, Garrix scored another hit with 2017's "Scared to Be Lonely," a collaboration with Dua Lipa. - iTunes
