August 29, 20187 yr I don't think the OCC have any intention of totally removing songs from the chart once they've peaked and the impact has faded or we would indeed have a rule like the Hot 100 where songs get excluded after leaving the top 50! Shape and Despacito may still be hanging around but they're notably lower than they otherwise would be, and will vacate the top 100 earlier than they would without ACR. We're still getting a much more notable amount of new entries and songs impacting the top 40 sooner than they otherwise would, which is brilliant I think!
August 29, 20187 yr 25 Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes wow, same peak as "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" hopefully this one goes TOP 20.
August 29, 20187 yr Maybe cheat/l mix could have kept climbing if it hadnt hit acr I personally totally see why shotgun is doing better than paradise, shotgun is far more poppy and radio-friendly
August 29, 20187 yr 25 Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes wow, same peak as "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" hopefully this one goes TOP 20. even if it doesn't, it seems certain to becoming their longest running top 40 hit yet. only needs 9 weeks to overtake 'Nine In The Afternoon'.
August 29, 20187 yr Maybe cheat/l mix could have kept climbing if it hadnt hit acr Would be at #17 if it wasn't on ACR, so doubtful!
August 29, 20187 yr Maybe cheat/l mix could have kept climbing if it hadnt hit acrOnly by way of other songs hitting ACR and Cheat Mix climbing by default however, which was what was happening for the past few weeks. I'm sure it would have dropped this week regardless anyway.
August 29, 20187 yr I do enjoy how go big or go home George is in the charts. It's either massive long-running top ten hits or they miss the Top 40 all together.

August 29, 20187 yr Yeah, I'm surprised I Write Sins didn't do better, even the next single from the album But It's Better If You Do got to #23.
August 29, 20187 yr Yeah, I'm surprised I Write Sins didn't do better, even the next single from the album But It's Better If You Do got to #23. I read somewhere that back in the day, the song was released as a limited edition single with a free sticker and the sticker was included with the cd single, because of this, IWSNT wasn't eligible for the UK Singles Chart. So then, it was re-released after "But It's Better You Do" an "Lying..." due to the big popularity of the song and peaked at #25.

August 29, 20187 yr Anyone know ariana previous second week sales? Yours Truly sold 2,338 on second week, My Everything 7,321, and Dangerous Woman 6,940. So this has already passed the second week sales of her previous albums.
August 29, 20187 yr For me 'Shotgun' although the chorus is more basic and simple, that is it's main selling point. It's a lot easier to sing along to, imo. I feel like the melody of 'Paradise' is a lot more to take in/it feels a bit more wordy. 'Shotgun' will (and does seemingly) appeal to casual audiences especially those going on a night out etc.. it's got a sing along vibe to it.
August 29, 20187 yr Can't believe how close Greatest Showman is to overtaking Mamma Mia lmao! Fantastic
August 29, 20187 yr Also, if the OCC want to promote a fresher chart then they're not doing a terrific job of it as Mr Brightside is about to re-enter yet again But no matter how much “Mr Brightside” sells, because it was released in 2004, it won’t ever go back to SCR Edited August 29, 20187 yr by Hadji
August 29, 20187 yr But no matter how much “Mr Brightside” sells, because it was released in 2004, it won’t ever go back to SCR That is correct. Yet it still manages to re-enter the top 100 every so often because it won't die as a streaming presence (plus the few trickle sales it gets every week too).
August 29, 20187 yr Here for the Shotgun vs. Paradise discussion! I like them both and I’m pleased for the success George is getting. I can see why Shotgun has become the bigger hit and think it’s more singable, but they’re both distinctive pop songs. Still think of Budapest as his signature tune, though it takes time to judge these things... As for ACR, I don’t love it but can see what it’s there for and it’s reasonably effective - who really wants to go back to 2016 levels of slowness? It’s arbitrary and unpretty for sure (e.g. an increase or decrease in sales of 1 copy can add or take several weeks from a song’s run in the top 10) but lines need to be drawn somewhere. Unless there’s an effective means of measuring discovery through streaming rather than repeated listening, I’d prefer the OCC stick with the current ratios rather than regularly changing them, so that we have a more level playing field to compare runs at #1 etc. I wish the OCC were more transparent about ACR and which songs are on it, though. I don’t see what would be achieved by automatically removing the 4-5 songs which have been on the chart for over a year. They’re still being consumed so should be there. I don’t like songs being made ineligible - didn’t like the 2006 physical deletion rules, and not a fan of the current 3 songs per artist/OST rule either (can see what it’s there for but think there are better ways of achieving it) - but most of all, I want the charts to reflect longevity when songs achieve it.
