It'll be sad to see Golden leave the chart as it's been fun following its success but, considering the era is over, as far as the UK is concerned, I can't really complain. I'm sure it'll make a return come the summer shows anyway. 140k sales and chart longevity that is up there with the likes of Body Language, X and Aphrodite is really pleasing.

The sales are great for that position as in many other weeks that would be enough for top 100. I will also miss following it in the charts each week as I looked forward to knowing its position each werk but it has done great and it will finish on at least 150,000 sales.

From a purely commercial point of view it's a real shame there was no new TV promo during December. MTSWY was being received well and they could have capitalised on it plus plug Dancing , SMFF. Not saying she would have sold anywhere near as well as George Ezra who really plugged his album, but because it had been well received all year he really reaped the rewards with massive sales and outsold loads of the Q4 big albums.

Kylie must have been in need of a rest though due to the bout of illness that caused her to pull out of the Magic concert. Once she performed those two Irish dates she decided to call it quits for the year. Her social media went much quieter.

So I hope she is well recovered somewhere....I recently saw a picture of her on twitter posted by a fan, in an airport in Perth Australia...

Well I guess that’s it now for promotion of the album so it’s unlikely to re-enter the charts and sales are likely to free fall!

Kylie Minogue was also a big seller on the vintage platform, shifting an impressive 6,262 tapes of her Number 1 album Golden. Following it's initial release, Kylie also released a Collector's Edition and a Winter Collector's Edition.

From the OCC.

A slight pity that The 1975 outdid her (based on their first week sales alone!). BMG’s own fault really considering they made the first two versions limited editions.

I had hoped Kylie would achieve the Number 1 cassette of the year.

Golden could leave the Top 200 for the first time this week based on the midweek position it currently has.

A rather precarious position given that streaming won't go in her favour... but hopefully it'll hold on for what would be its 40th week in the chart!
