Don't forget, this is the very same man that threatened to "pick up a rifle" in the event of Brexit not being delivered.

I must've missed that one.

It leads us back to square one though, there is still no majority for a Hard Brexit in Parliment.

Maybe the Euro-election results will shake things up a bit...

A YouGov poll just put Labour on 13% for Thursday's election and 6% behind the Lib Dems. That's the most extreme poll, and there's a lot of variation around, but if one thing's clear it's that they're not going to make marginal gains.

I do think YouGov are onto something with Labour rather than being the outlier! Lib Dems have a lot of momentum right now and I can see that being at the expense of Labour.

A second referendum or 'confirmatory referendum' seems a lot more likely than a General Election...

Of course had the Lib Dem/Conservative Coalition not brought in the clunky and ugly Fixed Term Parliament Act we'd have had a General Election back in January when the Government's primary legislation was voted down by the largest majority in several hundred years and treated as a vote of no confidence in the Government.

Simplistic. If they were aware they would be bringing in a new election then they would have behaved entirely differently in terms of voting and what they presented for voting.

If labour had a cohesive policy that matched what members wanted then maybe we'd have had a referendum by now and the whole ongoing torture would be moot.

I see Ed Milliband has changed his twitter feed to now be called 'Chaos With Ed Milliband'

It's official - anyone who thought that voting for a bloke with far right leanings and only one actual policy, let alone standing for it, meant he would have any intention of doing anything other than standing with the far-right fascisty-types in the EU parliament looks like disappointment may lie ahead....

On the plus side, Ann Widdlecum (note to self, check spelling) sat with a bunch of far-right tossers seems about right, so to speak. So much for being a loveable old spinster.

As a student of geopolitics, this very simple argument put forward by a certain former prime minister explains very succinctly my reasons for opposing Brexit beyond any emotional ties.

precis: europe must band together or they will become pawns to be pushed around in the re-emerging super-power tussles. maybe even Blair's own experience leads him to say that, but regardless of the fact that it's him saying it, he makes the point very well.

and we'll quickly become one of those pawns for American corporates, NHS will be on the table in the event of a no deal. Yay.

Totally agree. Any US deal with UK alone will force NHS even more down route that careproviders and prison services have gone - offshore owners screwing them for huge profits they dont pay tax on while we all just die from shitty low-paid care. China is already pushing us around and that will get even worse once their dirty fingers own key parts of UK plc. Meanwhile we do deals with nasty undemocratic regimes selling weapons cos we have little else to sell, except skills for hire at lower rates than other areas.

Still, at least Lincs can see voting Brexit has already potentially slashed 25,000 steel-related jobs as the gov refuses to lend cash to bail them out - and as Private Eye states, happy to waste 15m on a company that doesn;t exist, has no ferries, no experience, breaks EU legislation and wasn't tendered properly.

Happy Grayling Everyone!

US Ambassador to the UK Woody Johnson tells #Marr that the whole of the economy, including the #NHS, will be “on the table” in a future US-UK trade deal after Brexit

Who backs Nigel Farage? Arron Banks. What business is Arron Banks in? Insurance. Who will profit from the privatisation of the NHS? He will. Make no mistake. This is coming.

Cadwalladr has been right about every sordid little detail she has unearthed. Farage has said it bluntly he wants the NHS to be privatised and Johnson's stupid claim on the bus put farage's nose out of joint cos he very much is NOT promising anything for the NHS. Just cash for all of the involved parties all linked-together: Trump/Russia/Cambridge Analytica/Farage & his cronies. Plenty of evidence, but only the US have bothered doing anything about it - and that's precious little to date in practical terms.

Update: Trump has also confirmed the NHS will be included in US/UK trade deals talks too.

In the words of Johnny Rotten, to all those who voted Brexit because of a promise of £350m a week on the side of a bus.....

"Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"

Well done, Well done all.

I don't understand how anyone can defend this.

Are they going to frame it as 'why should we pay for everyone when we could just pay for ourselves?’

Ridiculous.

Ridiculous.

It'll be framed as "we have no deal with the EU therefore we are now the weak bitches of the USA and will gratefully agree to anything now we've stuffed ourselves and are desperate - because the alternative (to accept we have self-destructed and it was all lies) would be even worse than pretending we can survive with no deals.

Here's a delicious bit of logic assumption>

#Trump said, if UK leaves theEU, the NHS wld be part of any trade deal with US. So,choice is #Brexit or save #NHS

BorisJohnson told ToryMPs it’s either Brexit or the extinction of the #Tory party

=> Stopping Brexit saves the NHS AND kills off the Tories!

A win-win scenario!

If Brexit happens and the Tory party somehow manage to privatise the NHS for a US trade deal then they can kiss goodbye to having any power in government for the rest of the century tbh... Especially given that a lot of Tory party members/voters are older and more likely to use or rely on the NHS.

The only way that would happen though is if a no deal exit was to occur. No deal brexit and privatisation of the NHS... Makes me feel sick.

Boris Johnson WON'T face court over £350m Brexit bus claim as judges take just five minutes to quash Remainer campaigner's 'nonsense' and 'politically motivated' crowdfunded prosecution

Ex-Foreign Secretary successfully challenged summons for him to attend court

It was over claims made in referendum that EU receives £350m a week from UK

Campaigner had been trying to prosecute him for misconduct in a public office

Marcus Ball crowdfunded more than £300,000 through an online campaign

So merely *preparing* for a no deal Brexit caused the UK's manufacturing sector to shrink 4% in April. That is a shocking fall for a single month and anyone who works in manufacturing should be aware of this.

Overall GDP fell by 0.4% in April.

HOw do you know *all* the fall was due to Brexit-prep?
