Just to be clear on this, we're talking follow ups that failed to reach at least the top 10. I thought it would be good to get a definitive list so post away people. I'll start with a few examples I know of:

- Lou Bega - 'I Got A Girl' (follow up to 'Mambo No.5 (A Little Bit Of...)', #55 in December 1999)

- Spiller - 'Cry Baby' (follow up to 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)', #40 in February 2002)

- Tomcraft - 'Brainwashed (Call You)' (follow up to 'Loneliness', #43 in October 2003)

- Blu Cantrell - 'Make Me Wanna Scream' (follow up to 'Breathe' with Sean Paul, #24 in December 2003)

Few off the top of my head, had to wiki positions lmao

Cascada - Dangerous after Evacuate The Dancefloor (#67)

Owl City - Vanilla Twilight after Fireflies (#95)

Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love after Once (#36)

Kesha - Blow after We R Who We R (#32)

LMFAO - Champagne Showers after Party Rock Anthem (#32)

One that immediately springs to mind is Omi in 2015, with Hula Hoop, his follow up to Cheerleader, only reaching #75.
Nicole followed up her number 1 hit, the Eurovision 1982 winning 'A Little Peace' with 'Give Me More Time' which reached number 75. In 1984 Nena reached number 1 with '99 Red Balloons'. The follow up, 'Just A Dream', peaked at number 70.
Owl City - Vanilla Twilight after Fireflies (#95)

For what little it's worth, Vanilla Twilight was #94.

It deserved better.

Music and You - Room 5 ft Oliver Cheatham - #38 (follow up to Make Luv)

A few recent ones:

Ava Max - So Am I (Sweet But Psycho) #16 - could change

Benny Blanco - I Found You (Eastside) #29

Clean Bandit - Baby (Solo) #15

Rudimental - Let Me Live (These Days) #41

Eminem - Nowhere Fast (River) DNC

Sam Smith - One Last Song (Too Good at Goodbyes) #27

Calvin Harris - Faking It (Feels) #97

DJ Khaled - Top Off (Wild Thoughts) #41

I really wouldn't call missing the Top 10 not 'successful' though - Top 40 perhaps

Luis Fonsi is another recent example, Despacito was massive but follow up Échame La Culpa - with Demi Lovato as well - only got to #46.
Bit of a strange example but after two successive number one singles, follow up Big Fish Little Fish only got to #81 for Bob the Builder.
