I remember thinking 'What on earth is this?!' when I first heard it, but it eventually wormed its way into my head with that silly hook and I was soon addicted. I don't go back to it a huge amount these days, but it will forever be remembered for kicking off the incredible singles run from the Teenage Dream era.

What's left you ask?

I Kissed A Girl

Hot N Cold

Waking Up In Vegas

Teenage Dream

E.T. (feat. Kanye West)

Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)

The One That Got Away

Wide Awake

Roar

Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)

Chained to the Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley)

Never Really Over

I still feel like CG is just in it's demo form. :( It's ok, but it feels a bit empty on the production. It's like they were like "we need to get the single out there asap lets just use what we've got". Mehhh.
Yeah California Gurls is nothing special. Low down the list of favourites from Teenage Dream :(

A huge banger, and cheesy as it sounds, one of the defining songs of my growing up. I was obsessed with the song when I first heard the album and was overjoyed when it was finally a single almost a year later. I feel like it would have been better as a third single, as Thinking About You's slight under-performance hindered this somewhat, but it was still massive in the US at least.

CHHOOOONN!! This came on my "Ultimate" playlist on my 2 hour drive today and it make me break the speed limit. I was too busy howling along to take notice of such triviality's like the law. B-)

I put it in my top 5 favourite Katy tracks.

The way this posts spills the tea.

Firework is way too low.

Katy equalled Michael Jackson's 'most Billboard #1s from one album' record when 'Last Friday Night' finally hit #1 in America. I remember it being one of the songs I was drawn to when I first heard Teenage Dream, but it's not one I hugely go back to these days. It's a very fun song though!

So glad "Vegas" has done well even though it wasn't one of her huge hits! Such an amazing song

I'm so intrigued to see how "Never Really Over" has done - it's massively popular on here so a shock #01? :o Failing that, I can see "Teenage Dream" perhaps being #01.

Last Friday Night is a lot of fun, and the video is one of her most memorable! Does anyone remember the teaser trailer that introduced Kathy Beth Terry to the world? *.* It was randomly made unavailable years later 😭 (this is the link but it doesn’t work

)

Bon appetit deserved better than that! It’s very divisive clearly. Ahead of its time x

Surprised Firework ended that low! I don’t go back to it much anymore tbf, but it remains as a huge highlight on tour.

It's basic but still probably one of her most fun and loveable songs — bop

The song that started it all! I was so sure this would be a one hit wonder when it came out of nowhere and was that massive #1 hit...Until i heard 'Hot N Cold' for the first time (which is still in the game, so more on that later). She's out-done this on a commercial and critical level since (which is good, it's not good to be remembered only for your first hit), but I still see this as a massive bop all these years later, some questionable lyrics aside, such as "it felt so wrong", but even Katy herself has said that if she wrote this song now, the lyrics would be slightly different.

It'll always hold such a special place in my heart for how it pretty much defined my summer of 2008, and how obsessed I was with it back then. It's a great pop song, and was really refreshing at the time.
