Yeah, he's definitely shifted into becoming an artist I'm intrigued to see what's coming and I wouldn't have said that last era. I actively avoided Too Good At Goodbyes for about a month.

I'm still unsure about the drop but I do like it and it's got a level of replay-ability about it. I don't think I'll ever love it like I do 'Dancing With A Stranger' but it's a solid follow-up and I like this direction. Weirdly, for whatever reason, the start of the chorus reminds me of Shayne Ward's No Promises lmao. Strange but hey.

I take it back. I'm really out here stanning Sam Smith this era? What a turn of events.

god this man is diabolical... see he waited for olly alexander, adam lambert and mnek to take the reigns in queer performativity before jumping on in.

I don't know why I'm entertaining your blatant desperate trolling, but this is absurd on many levels.

First and foremost, everyone has their own timeline and embracing your queerness is not something that can or should be rushed to keep up with what anyone else is doing. Not to mention the fact that Sam Smith making a video like this is infinitely more impactful within mainstream culture simply because he's hugely successful and MNEK is not. People will actually, you know, watch this video.

I do think he has made some misguided comments in the past, but completely agree.

It's not easy to fully embrace yourself — especially as a queer person. If anything, it's a compliment to other artists that have helped Sam Smith feel comfortable enough to be himself in the mainstream. It's not a competition or a trend for him to 'jump' on.

This better peak in the top ten in Australia, Canada, UK and USA or else I'm throwing hands... :coffee:
Early days but I'd say this is in his top 3 best songs tbh!

I agree, but there's not exactly a lot of other competition for me.

Maybe that could change with this current era though!

And the whole point of some artists doing it is the inspire others to be more open with themselves. the more, the better.

Is there any promo lined up for this anywhere? I need a few live performances in my life

Really liking this from him. I thought I was the only one that the start of the chorus reminded me of 'No Promises' by Shayne Ward.

I've moved and merged all of the non-binary talk into the lounge as I feel it's getting sch a huge reaction on Twitter and is a huge talking point, that's not related to their music.

OK so I've never liked Sam Smith. Their earlier stuff passed me by and I hated (still do) The writing's on the wall so have avoided everything by them ever since. However I've just heard How do you sleep and bloody hell it's amazing!!! :o  :o

So I've just spent the afternoon listening to all of their singles and I have to say I love quite a few of them:

Dancing with a stranger

Lay me down

Too good at goodbyes

I'm not the only good

And I also quite like Promises and Stay with me... Think I'm a converted Sam Smith fan :o ... Still hate The writing's on the wall though
