I wonder how long Ed’s gonna keep the albums #2 for

I can see it happening this week and then maybe the next two weeks after that too

He's a 19-year-old rapper from Manchester, and you can tell from his accent

i'm suddenly invested!

Singles or albums? Or both?

Singles - can't wholly judge as I haven't heard the top 2 albums but I imagine them to be pretty terrible as well tbf from what I *have* heard!

in 2 weeks both Liam Gallagher and Keane are releasing albums so Ed should drop to #3 then

New albums from Sam Fender, Liam Gallagher, Dermot Kennedy, Keane, Blink 182 and possibly Emeli Sande should push him down.

I wouldn't be surprised if Keane came in below Ed. Liam Gallagher will be an easy #1 obvz though and I think/hope Sam Fender will be able to get there too.
^^ Sam will get there with ease, his pre-order figures last week already had him close to 16k and since then the UK picture disc and mini disc have sold out and more pressed. The 3,000 signed vinyl on Amazon sold out yesterday and the signed CD will follow shortly!
Don't these supposed figures for numbers of pre-orders often turn out to be pretty wildly inaccurate? (And I assume that includes purchases from outside the UK which obviously wouldn't count). Then again the album has been on pre-order for ages so it could be right, he should be pretty comfortably #1 then if that's even close to the truth.

But surely Liam is also going to do big numbers too, so with any luck we might be in for a battle for #1.

Would Fenderhave more preorders than lets say Taylor?

She did 19k withpreorders + 1st day sales

So Fender would be really slaying if true

The last update I got was over a week ago (from a great source!). Several of his limited edition items were UK only to ensure the sales counted here - he also has a ton of formats:

Picture Disc (UK Exclusive)

Mini Disc (UK Exclusive)

Clear Vinyl

Cornetto Coloured Vinyl

Black Vinyl

Standard CD

Signed CD

Signed Vinyl

Cassette

He signed 6,000 copies for Amazon (3k Vinyl, 3k CD - the vinyl has sold out). The UK Picture Disc, Mini Disc and signed CD from his official store all sold out. Several record stores are doing midnight openings tonight in Newcastle selling signed copies.

Lots of promo next week too.

Liam Gallagher will have big sales first week I can see him selling easily 60k+

'Cause and Effect' will be Keane's first Studio Album to miss the top spot - sales of previous Album were quite low so they probably saw the writing on the wall hence releasing the same week as Liam Gallagher.

Strangeland sold 47,839 on its first week, and although that's less than their previous albums, nearly 50k is hardly low!

Having said that, it's been seven years since that album and I expect the new album will not sell anywhere near as much, Liam should safely break the group's number one streak.

some bizarre comments

yay sure Keane knew they were gonna flop and decided to release on the same day as Liam... science fiction very much lol :D
