October 2, 20195 yr Thought Senorita would have been top 10 considering how huge its been this summer!
October 2, 20195 yr It just hasn't been out long enough, these lists are extremely biased to earlier releases.
October 2, 20195 yr I hope '7 rings' can hold on until the end of the year! 'no tears left to cry' scraped 10th last year so it'd be cool for her to have another EOY top 10 song. 'Wow.' does not feel that big at all to me  but yeah, early release bias of course.
October 2, 20195 yr It just hasn't been out long enough, these lists are extremely biased to earlier releases. Yeh true, I imagine by December Ladbroke Grove/Senorita/TMBTL/3 Nights and others will be challenging.
October 2, 20195 yr it's a bit strange that Ed Sheeran's London is that low. I thought x-weeks @ #1 would fit top 20 at least.
October 2, 20195 yr it's a bit strange that Ed Sheeran's London is that low. I thought x-weeks @ #1 would fit top 20 at least. Spending a long time at number 1 is irrelevant these days. Rockabye by Clean Bandit had 8 weeks at the top in 2016 (and a 9th in 2017) and didn't even make the YE Top 30.
October 2, 20195 yr it's a bit strange that Ed Sheeran's London is that low. I thought x-weeks @ #1 would fit top 20 at least. The reason is the same as what bre said for senorita
October 2, 20195 yr The changed nature of the singles market these days means that any track released after the middle of the year doesn't really stand a chance of ending up as the top track of the year. And it would also struggle to get inside the end of year top 10 as all of the tracks in the above YTD list have passed 900,000 sales this year.
October 3, 20195 yr 5 SWEET BUT PSYCHO AVA MAX 1 1.45m * 6 BAD GUY BILLIE EILISH 2 7 DON'T CALL ME UP MABEL 3 9 7 RINGS ARIANA GRANDE 1 14 DANCING WITH A STRANGER SAM SMITH & NORMANI 3 17 SHALLOW LADY GAGA & BRADLEY COOPER 1 21 NOTHING BREAKS LIKE A HEART MARK RONSON FT MILEY CYRUS 2 24 THANK U NEXT ARIANA GRANDE 1 25 BREAK UP WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND I'M BORED ARIANA GRANDE 1 28 HIGH HOPES PANIC AT THE DISCO 12 31 BURY A FRIEND BILLIE EILISH 6 32 WITHOUT ME HALSEY 3 36 EASTSIDE BENNY BLANCO/HALSEY/KHALID 1 38 BOASTY WILEY/STEFFLON DON/SEAN PAUL 11 I only like the ones above, what a terrible list!
October 3, 20195 yr It'd be nice if they did the list with just this year's releases on there. Also, the list feels very Q1 orientated.
October 3, 20195 yr ^ That would defeat the object of the list, if you start excluding songs like Sweet But Psycho, and it'd still be Q1 oriented. It's just the reality of the streaming era that songs have a longer tail in their consumption than before. ACR masks this a bit in the weekly charts but doesn't apply here.
October 3, 20195 yr It's only logical that now when the availability isn't limited, there's nothing one can do about it and why should? If a song released in March is still popular in August, shouldn't it be doing well on countdown?
October 5, 20195 yr ^ That would defeat the object of the list, if you start excluding songs like Sweet But Psycho, and it'd still be Q1 oriented. It's just the reality of the streaming era that songs have a longer tail in their consumption than before. ACR masks this a bit in the weekly charts but doesn't apply here. I didn't say that it should be replaced in any way? I just said it would be nice to see a list of this year's releases?
October 5, 20195 yr I didn't say that it should be replaced in any way? I just said it would be nice to see a list of this year's releases? Fair enough, but do you then exclude Someone You Loved because it had a week in the Top 100 last year? It's a valid point, but unlike years ago we won't have a clear picture of the biggest sellers to be released in 2019 until long after the year's over.
