In a close ran match, our next departee is Princess of China, a song much more electro-pop than anything they've done before and featuring who was easily the biggest pop star around at the time so certainly a good argument that they were selling out, but actually it's not quite as blatant as that, the song was written to feature her, it took influences much more from the electronic and even slightly R'n'B genres than anything they've done before as well as, as the name suggests, Chinese influences in both the composition and the video with a moody, heavy synth throughout. The video depicts a rather epic relationship dispute between Rihanna and Martin with as much extravagance as you can expect from two huge stars. It received a fairly mixed response from critics, but charted very well around the world and remains one of their biggest selling hits here. Now for all the flack it gets, it's actually rather unique in composition and style as it progresses, and if it didn't feature Rihanna, I think it could be seen as a more experimental moment that may not have done as well. That said, it's not their best forray into other genres and hasn't aged as well. I certainly appreciate it a lot more than I did at the time, but it's not a big favourite.

Definitely has to be A Sky Full Of Stars for me. It's okay but not something I ever go back to within the catalogue.

ps I don't hate Fix You as much as I did a few weeks back. I listened again and whilst the lyrics are all sorts of meh, I do quite like the second half.

amazed Im the only one voting for Every teardrop

I actually like Pricess of China, the structure is pretty weird, I even know how to play it on guitar :D

Hooray for 'Midnight' surviving to fight another round.

The song I voted for went out in the last three rounds but that streak will probably end this time as I'm going for 'Magic'. #savemidnight tho
