How can this country be any more embarrassed than it should be already after the election results?

Given that the numbers of children in poverty will likely soar over the next five years, this doing well could at least go some way to helping out.

And actually why not have a fun Christmas no.1? It’s hardly any worse than the garbage that’s been no.1 for the last 3 months.

100% THIS OMG PREACH T BOY!!!

I am so embarrassed people rushed out to vote for bojo the clown.

This is embarrasing, but voting for Boris Johnson and tories is a few levels above this.

Anyway, I am not against raising money for charity, but I wish the musical part of the Christmas #1 quest was better. I am getting nostalgic for X Factor winner's singles from 10 years back or so.

Well him and his Fiat 500 Twitter/Full time Yummy Mummy Facebook followers do, unfortunately

Oh and ftr... Sausage Rolls are lowkey, overrated. Oops. (Even moreso now!)

I bet they're the same people who watch Mrs Browns Boys and find it funny. -_-

I don't get how the whole sausage rolls thing is even funny.

This! I’m all for charity/festive fun but this track is beyond bad - it’s not even funny.

It suddenly all makes sense! (At least Mrs. Brown's Boys' inexplicable popularity seems to have slightly faded now though).

I'm usually all for Christmas novelty songs but LadBaby's particular brand of humour is just viscerally cringeworthy, he seems to be a good guy and all but... bring back the Wealdstone Raider and £1 Fish Man PLEASE. Why does this have to be the one that so many people latched onto.

I don't get how the whole sausage rolls thing is even funny.

It's hilarious and it's for charity. :D

Just donate the 99p to the charity themselves!

Save your ears. My ears. Everyones ears and most importantly... save our charts!!

We've just had 11 weeks of a horrific voice. Dont need anymore.

This! I'm sick to the back teeth of people protesting "but it's for charity!!!!" as if that excuses something for being not funny, uninspired or boring. It is possible to, you know, release something of good quality for charity? Or, like you say, just donate straight to a charity.

It should probably be up to artists to try and make Christmas no.1 mean something though? Ladbaby is just taking advantage of a gap in the market. If he wasn’t releasing, then it’s be Stormzy which would be just as lame as a Christmas no.1.

I do find it quite funny though, mainly because it’s riling so many people up. At this point, who cares what is Christmas no.1? It’s as meaningless as most no.1s during the year now.

I would like to think now that XF is a thing of the past that more ‘proper’ acts might try for the Christmas #1 but in the grand scheme of things is it even important anymore?! Not sure it holds any relevance anymore to get the Christmas #1?!

It's declined in relevance only as much as the charts in general have declined in relevance. It's definitely still more of a big deal than the #1 every other week, still gets some mainstream media coverage etc. (see the article on BBC News last year about how LadBaby was doomed to miss out on #1 due to not being streamed enough which resulted in the song getting the sales boost it needed to get there). There are still a ton of attempts to get various charity/novelty things to Christmas #1 every year, they're not very effective for the most part any more but if it was really entirely irrelevant then no one would be trying.
