Bjork will be pleased as we finally lose the lead single from Mylo Xyloto, leaving Paradise as the last post-2010 song standing, we have certainly been rather brutal with them thus far. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall proved to be, like a lot of their songs this decade, a slow burner but turned into quite a long lasting hit for them. The title and the melody were both based on a sample from Peter Allen's I Got to Rio that Chris Martin first heard in the film, Biutiful (which was sampled in Ritmo de la Noche by Chocolate, which was then covered later by The Sacados, so complex but Allen is credited as a writer no plagiarism x) and full of rather cute, arty little sayings like 'I'd rather be a comma than a full stop', me as an 18 year old Creative Writing first year undergraduate thought it was so deep and beautifully written at the time, now I'm not so sure :kink: but it's still lovely and the whole song captures the explosively colourful, uplifting, electronic sound they were going for on the album perfectly and is still a really joyous listen.

I still really like Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall so it's a shame to see that one go. Still going for Violet Hill.
I do hope 'Paradise' survives at least one more round, their post-VLV output hasn't been that much worse than the earlier stuff for none of them to make the top 10!

Quick rank of the ones that are left for the sake of it:

Viva la Vida

Talk

The Scientist

Yellow

Trouble

Violet Hill

Speed of Sound

Paradise

Clocks

In My Place

Fix You

finally Ritmo de la Noche is out, should have been the first out, their worst thing ever

voting now for Speed of Sound, mediocre track with Coldplay abandoning the sound of the first 2 albums and pretending to be U2, which they are not

Hmm rank for those left for me:

1 Paradise

2 Viva La Vida

3 Trouble

4 Clocks

5 Talk

6 Speed Of Sound

7 Yellow

8 The Scientist

9 Fix You

10 In My Place

11 Violet Hill

So Trouble to go please then The Scientist for sure until the bitter end (most likely).

I guess I would go

Violet Hill

Yellow

In My Place

The Scientist

Trouble

Fix You

Paradise

Viva La Vida

Clocks

Speed Of Sound

Talk

Not a huge gap in quality from top to bottom though

This is going much better now! Now for Paradise to go, it's ok but both extremely overrated and overplayed.

Rank:

In My Place

Fix You

Yellow

The Scientist

Violet Hill

Clocks

Viva la Vida

Speed of Sound

Trouble
