Can imagine the top 5 in January being something like Stormzy/Bieber/Camila/Trevor Daniels/Tones or Endor or The Weeknd!

Wonder if Mariah is top 40 or not?!

Most likely the normal music between 41 to 75 from last week is back inside the 40 in the region of Nos 21-40, with a few exceptions to cater for a couple of new entries from D-Block Europe and Travis Scott. Honestly I can't see Mariah Top 40.

The big question, have we seen the last of LadBaby  :P

i thought the xmas songs would hold on at least new years eve

they never do - Mariah and Wham are already well outside the top 40 on Spotify, and alongside The Pogues are the only Christmas songs still top 200 today.

Ellie may well still miss this week's top 40 - LadBaby was top 10 on First Look this time last week too.

Ellie won't die off as hard over the week as LadBaby, he would have been pushed down by a ton of Christmas songs peaking in streams late in the week.

And so this First Look chart confirmed my suspicion that a few top 20 hits could potentially have top 10 peaks post-Christmas [Jax, Endor and Harry (AY)], which means I'll be delaying my annual Fave Top 20 Hit poll a week or two. For those who are interested here is a list of every new top 20 hit of 2019 that didn't reach the top 10 – in order of when they entered the top 20.

We all know The RSPB are gonna win this by a landslide

When it comes to listening yes because people STOP immediately when they perceive Christmas to end(27th December) whereas with previous formats there was a slightly slower especially with cds and vinyl when we used to see Xmas songs fall down the chart for the three weeks in January. Even as recently as 2013 when Leona was in positions 3-15-70 until 10/1/14 and I remember following iTunes and OMS was in the top 100 until just after Xmas eve.

I'm still listening to some Christmas songs, and still got the tree up.

Christmas for me ain't over until 12th night.

This. I just don't listen to them as much.

we should do – especially as it only takes 25% increase to get reset this year

still don't get why the OCC changed it from 50% when this new rule will only lead to more old songs getting reset and sticking around for the whole of Jan/Feb.

It only takes an increase 25 percentage points above the market average. If overall streams go down this week (which seems likely), the increase needed will be lower than 25%. Assuming people switch from streaming Christmas songs back to what they were streaming a few weeks ago, the number of songs being reset will be pretty high. Before the announcement of a new Bieber single, I was half-expecting Dance Monkey to return to the top as a result. Now, I'm not so sure.
