95 = Mabel // Loneliest Time of Year = 185pts

Chart Run (11-15-07-05-09-14-X)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 6 Weeks (Still Charting)

At 95 a Christmas song as Mabel’s Christmas effort managed to amass 6 weeks on the chart and 3 weeks in the top 10 to gain enough points to chart here. The song seemed to get virtually no support upon its release, but maybe it’ll get placed on a Christmas playlist in subsequent years and start charting properly. I’m guessing this wont make the 2020 EOY Chart however its good to see it make an appearance here.

94 = 5 Seconds of Summer // Teeth = 187pts

Chart Run (05-04-13-18-22-29-31-33-35-39-X-35)

Peak = 4

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks

The first of three appearance by 5 Seconds of Summer with their song Teeth. The song was instant for me and spent 2 weeks in the top 5, however then hard a pretty sharp fall down the chart and spent nearly half of it’s chart run between 31-40. Last year Youngblood was the 2nd highest song on my EOY chart and was the song that turned my attentions onto 5SOS after dismissing them for a fair number of years. However they’ve produced some quite good stuff.

93 = Charli XCX x Troye Sivan // 1999 = 191pts

Chart Run (06-09-14-16-19-23-28-30-35-39)

Peak = 1 (Peaked in 2018)

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks (in 2019)

Up next a song which dominated my 2018 chart for quite a number of weeks and ended up charting 15th on the 2018 EOY Chart. I’m actually surprised its managed to get so high for 2019, however 1999 is a bop and even after 2018 I was still playing this a fair bit. I love me some Troye and I think this song is great and whilst there seemed to be a bit of a thing about reminiscing about a particular year this song outshines them all. Certified Bop!

92 = Dominic Fike // 3 Nights = 194pts

Chart Run (08-07-09-12-17-20-25-36)

Peak = 7

Weeks on Chart = 8 Weeks

Dominic Fike next and surprised it reached this high and whilst it did spend 3 weeks in my top 10, I don’t remember being a massive fan of it. I think it just got stuck in my head… well the chorus did anyway. Not really a song I return too, however officially it did have a monster chart run and seemed to stick around forever. Its alright, but I don’t think I would say it was in my favourites of 2019, but I guess the chart run goes against that :D

91 = David Guetta & MORTEN ft RAYE // Make it to Heaven= 196pts

Chart Run (07-09-05-08-10-11-X)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 6 Weeks (Still Charting)

Barring her appearance with Jax Jones, I’ve never really got into any RAYE songs that heavily, however Make it to Heaven bucks that trend and manages to make my EOY chart after just 6 weeks. The song is a second appearance by David Guetta and MORTEN and is also the first collab between Guetta and RAYE to make an appearance. The drop on this song is great and RAYE’s vocals work well; I usually find the majority of RAYE songs don’t really have hook to get in to. However I really like this song and I guess may make an appearance on my 2020 EOY chart.

90 = The Weeknd // Blinding Lights = 196pts

Chart Run (02-02-03-01-01-X)

Peak = 1 (2 Weeks @ Number 1)

Weeks on Chart = 5 Weeks (Still Charting)

My current number 1 next as after just 5 weeks, The Weeknd manages to sneak into the top 90 after 2 weeks at number 1 and 5 weeks in total in the top 3. The song is an absolute bop and makes a change from quite a lot of the Weeknd’s output over the last few years. I’m guessing this will be even higher in my 2020 EOY chart, however its one of my fave songs at the moment and I can’t see that changing any time quickly.

89 = Mark Ronson ft Lykke Li // Late Night Feelings = 198pts

Chart Run (24-12-11-21-26-28-28-37-37-39-X-23-25-29-36)

Peak = 11

Weeks on Chart = 14 Weeks

A monster chart run of 14 weeks for this, however the majority of its run was outside the top 20… the song even had a second wind and an extra 4 weeks on the chart, however despite its run, it only makes 89th place. This isn’t the most commercial song from Ronson’s last album, however I like it because its so different. Its Mark Ronson’s 2nd appearance with 1 more song (See U Again) still to chart.

Nice to see 1999 in here! My favourite from both Troye and Charli in a long time.

Giving Summer Lover a listen now, it's a really good track! That funky guitar in the chorus really suits the tropical sound of the song.

88 = CamelPhat x Jem Cooke // Rabbit Hole = 198pts

Chart Run (10-14-15-14-20-19-20-18-X)

Peak = 10

Weeks on Chart = 8 Weeks (Still Charting)

The first appearance of CamelPhat and Jem Cooke next as Rabbit Hole manages to make the top 100 after 8 weeks on the chart in the run up to New Years. For me the song isn’t as great as Breathe… nor the majority of Camel’s other tracks, however I still like it and its slightly different to his other tracks. Its had 1 week in the top 10, however been between 14 and 20 for 7 weeks yo-yoing up and down. I doubt it will make next years chart, however still a decent song and 2 more Camel songs still to go!

Its definitely my fave from Charli... I became obsessed with Troye's last album, so that one would be a bit more difficult :D

87 = David Guetta ft RAYE // Stay (Don’t Go Away) = 204pts

Chart Run (08-05-09-14-20-23-27-30-35-36-40)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks

What was I saying about RAYE :D this is her last appearance and also with David Guetta this time as well, who after 3 appearances also makes his last appearance. Stay managed 11 weeks on the chart and a peak of 5, however had a couple of sharp falls which saw a lot of its chart run sub 20. Stay features a sample from a Jamiroquai song and whilst I did like this at the time, its not really a song I return to all that much.

86 = Years & Years and Jess Glynne // Come Alive = 207pts

Chart Run (X-05-06-12-14-16-22-27-29-34-38)

Peak = 4 (Peaked in 2018)

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks (in 2019)

Next a song from the re-imagined Greatest Showman soundtrack… shall we move on? This was the only song from that album that I actually liked, although my love for Years and Years may have helped somewhat. It placed 100 on my 2018 EOY chart as well… I don’t remember being that obsessed with this song, but I obviously was. To have a song from Greatest Showman on the 2019 EOY chart is a bit odd. Next…

85 = Yves V ft Afrojack & Icona Pop // We Got That Cool = 211pts

Chart Run (14-09-07-09-14-20-23-29-33)

Peak = 7

Weeks on Chart = 9 Weeks

A funky bop next which peaked at 7 as We Got That Cool charts at 85. The song spent 3 weeks in the top 10, however just 9 weeks on the chart and I can’t help but feel this should be a bit higher as I still listen to this sometimes. The song wasn’t instant for me, however soon got stuck in my head and has an amusing video… it’s unfortunate that it didn’t really do anything officially due to streaming, however it’s a good song nonetheless.

84 = Louis Tomlinson // Kill My Mind = 212pts

Chart Run (15-23-28-33-40-36-36-16-12-16-20-26-30-34-38)

Peak = 12

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks

The highest entrant from Louis Tomlinson next and the third highest song from an ex-One Direction member. The song really had 2 spells for me and initially I liked the song, before it sharply fell, however stuck around and then peaked on its 9th week on the chart at 12. Kill My Mind made 15 weeks on the chart, however over a third of that chart run was 30 or below. The song I think is fairly good and has a 90’s indie vibe which does appeal. Louis though is all over the place in terms of his output if more of it was in this vein it would be good.

83 = Disciples x Eyelar // All Mine = 214pts

Chart Run (08-06-11-16-20-24-28-26-28-33-37)

Peak = 6

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks

At 83 another dance bop courtesy of Disciples who had 11 weeks on the chart with a peak of 6 overall. I don’t think Disciples have really bettered On My Mind, however they’ve still produced some great songs… it’s a shame however that none of them have bothered the chart officially. All Mind took some big tumbles down the chart and had most of its run outside the top 20, not a bad song but not that memorable I guess.

82 = Anton Powers x Redondo // Make Your Move = 221pts

Chart Run (03-10-13-10-14-21-23-28-31-36)

Peak = 3

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks

From one dance tune to another as Anton Powers and Redondo make an appearance with their song Make a Move which samples a Pointers Sisters song. The song charted at number 3 and in the end had 3 weeks in the top 10 and 10 weeks in total on the Electro Chart. Not a bad song, however slightly repetitive :D

catching up

Ah I really enjoyed These Days. Scared of Love was alright but never made my chart.

Castles was rather decent although I think she's better at ballads - loved Lost Without You and Waking Up.

Never Be Alone rather good for David, it just missed my personal top 40. Make It To Heaven did make my top 20 briefly but I preferred his other Raye collab 'Stay' (which I see is higher here although with MITH having an incomplete run).

Harder the one song of Jax's I didn't enjoy sadly.

Devotion was a bit of a comedown after Desire for Dimension for me. Have you heard Black Church from him though? It made my EOY top 10 in 2018.

Nothing Breaks Like a Heart I really enjoyed, one of the best pop songs of the year (2018 I know but it'll be in my 2019 chart too)

God is a Dancer was great, my fave song from both acts involved for the year 2019.

XTC I love, a proper dance banger - that'll be in my Top 50.

I love Oliver Heldens but Summer Lover wasn't that big in my chart, he's done much better.

Losing It what a tune, it made my top 100 both in 2018 and 2019.

Loneliest Time of Year a decent enough Christmas effort although can't ever see it being a proper hit.

3 Nights also made my top 100 and around that position too, great track.

Rabbit Hole is alright but definitely far from the greatness that was Breathe (that'll be very high up my chart)

We Got That Cool another great tune, I was very surprised to see Icona Pop returning to my chart too.

81 = Years & Years x MNEK // Valentino = 221pts

Chart Run (05-07-12-15-20-19-23-27-29-34-39)

Peak = 5

Weeks on Chart = 11 Weeks

Up next an anti-valentines song which was a collab between Years & Years and MNEK. The song peaked at 5 and in total had 11 weeks on the chart, I sort of wish it had done more as I returned to it quite heavily later in the year and think it deserves more. MNEK seems to have the anti-midas touch when it comes to the charts when he has his name as the singer and this officially did nothing. Still a fun video and you’ve got to love a bit of Years & Years (Or is that just me?)
