Love the Twitter joke that Trump fans are so thick that they'll all go to Washington state.

So only 3 days to go. Is anyone else getting really uptight and nervous now?

Who's staying up all night? I'm not but will do like before and get up about 5-6. Last time Trump was declared to have won by the Networks at 7.30am UK time.

My nerves are more for the outcome of the election unless Biden wins by a landslide. There are so many powerful people that have allowed false conspiracy theories to follow through e.g, if Biden wins it's all because of election fraud, but if Trump wins its because of his great campaign etc. - there is so much hatred in the country, I really do think it could spill out. Add that to a backdrop of the pandemic out of control. I mean, we thought we had it bad in the UK and Europe.. it's absolutely nothing compared to what it will be in the US come December.

I'm worried because it is still concievable that Trump could narrowly win through a shock result in Pennsylvania, and the demons that might unlock. I'm also worried because a close result could be the catalyst to a civil war.

Pennsylvania is the key to breaking the deadlock and is a state that will no doubt be heavily contested if it ends up close in the all-or-nothing EC and within the state itself, just like Florida was in 2000.

Of course that worry could be misplaced and it could be a comfortable victory for Biden.

Wonderful video as always from Jonathan Pie. He articulates my fear exactly - the polls might be painting a picture, but that doesn't mean it's a foregone conclusion but more importantly just how much bitterness and hatred there is in politics, no debate or discussion, just 'they're a terrible side, vote for us instead!' it's so toxic. Unless it's a comfortable win for Biden, I really worry for the country and how much more divided it will grow over the next four years.

I thought that state was actually Florida.

Wonder if the latest Biden son video will affect undecided voters.

Pennsylvania is more of a worry because it's very likely to be the 'tipping point' state, the one that puts one candidate over the edge, and its results aren't likely to be known in full on the night. Florida's should be all in very early on.

Okay thanks for clarifying.

From what I've read it seems that Florida could easily go to Trump and there are many routes for Biden to still win the Electoral College.

That changes with the loss of Pennsylvania. So yes, it is living up to its name of the 'Keystone State'. But yes, what Iz said.

Ah, I had to groan when I saw that earlier today. The polls would have to be historically wrong for Biden to lose now. But, valid points. The Democrats will have to work once they get in office should the expected happen.

I reckon if anyone is feeling nervy, read Nate Silver's thoughts, he explains the difference in polling between 2016 and 2020 in this interview along with a host of other things, while not denying that there's still a possibility Trump wins.

I believe this has been revealed to be a fake. No one outside of conservative media was picking it up for a reason. There aren't many undecideds left anyway.

Whilst I agree Pennsylvania is important, I'm pretty sure Biden will win it comfortably. I'm most interested in Texas - Biden has a good chance of winning there. A couple polls released yesterday/today give Biden a +2 lead and the voter turnout so far has been very high.

I'm personally feeling quite positive about the US election. I think Biden will beat trump by a considerable margin and the democrats will do a clean sweep of winning the presidency, senate and house. I'm hoping if the democrats do get a majority in the senate that they will undo a lot of the last 4 years of Trump and stick it to the republicans hard - just like the repbulicans have done for the last decade or so to the democrats.

I think we need to be remember that joe public (not necessarily here) assume polls routinely favour DEMs. They don’t. Look at 2012 Election. It’s perfectly feasible, for example, to have a situation where Trump wins Penn and Florida but loses Texas and Georgia. Also worth noting that the polls havent narrowed up either.

538 have Trump at a 10% chance. It was around 30% in 2016.

Also, am I still riddled with anxiety - damn right.

Democrats were apparently worried about early voter numbers not being enough in Miami Dade county in Florida but Harris was campaigning there today so lets see what happens with the early voter numbers now.

Trump certainly putting a lot of time into Pennsylvania, with four rallies there today. Will it work in narrowing the election race/the polls a bit there or will the perceived 'potential superspreader' nature of his rallies outdo any positive moves for Trump there?

I'm really just praying Pennsylvania turns out to be irrelevant - I still think Biden will win there anyway, but it's likely to be one of the last states to get a confirmed result from (and because of the way the vote is being counted there it's likely Trump will appear to be well ahead in reporting on election day itself with Biden dramatically closing the gap as mail ballots are counted, which Trump would no doubt try and claim is evidence of fraud despite it being explained well ahead of time). We should have results on the night from states like Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia and Texas and if Biden wins literally any of those states (of which he currently leads fairly consistently albeit narrowly in 3/5, and has been ahead in a handful of polls in Texas and Georgia too) that makes Trump's path to 270 effectively nearly impossible. The polls will need to be off by a similar magnitude to 2016 for those to all go to Trump and by an even larger magnitude for him to also win Pennsylvania.
I'm truly dreading the few days after the election as someone who lives in pennsylvania. lol
What’s the history of presidential candidates in their home states - so they normally win or is it changeable?
I would have always thought the home state would vote for any aspiring president from there but guess it’s not as simple as that.

I chat to a lady on Facebook messenger, who also lost her daughter to SADS, like us, and she's in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. They're Trump supporters. They want me to go over for a holiday and stay with them after Covid. Know her through a child loss grief group.
