Latest Texas poll has Biden 46% with Trump 45%.

If the Trump campaign need to put resources into Texas, that can only help Biden even if his team still largely ignore the state.

Basically, from what I'm reading on 538 and other sites, Trump needs Florida or his path back to the White House is virtually over. Biden just needs Florida and ONE other state that Trump won from the Dems in 2016. So his chances are far easier. The one to watch out for and the one the US Networks will concentrate on during the night will be Florida.

hmm, looks like Trump's going to use the Rose Garden for campaigning speeches filled with factual inaccuracies against Biden because why fix your strategy of lies and disrespecting conventions if you aren't punished for it?

(I like these):

Trump said of an Obama-era housing rule meant to address racial segregation: "You're going to abolish the suburbs with this."

Facts First: This is nonsense. (To be specific, it is racially coded nonsense.) Diversifying or integrating suburbs does not abolish suburbs.

abolishing the suburbs would be a great thing tbh

Trump claimed that Europe "has never treated us well," then repeated his regular claim that the European Union was formed "to take advantage of the United States."

Facts First: Experts on European integration say the EU was not formed to "take advantage" of the US. You can read more here.

As for Florida, I had been thinking it would move Republican because of Trump's new residency and its increasing reputation as the retirement home of the US, to have it as a tossup at this stage is really bad for the Republicans.

Credit to Joe Biden, he's clearly proving to be a stronger candidate than I expected him to be, at least according to opinion polls. At the moment it looks like if the election were held today it wouldn't be even remotely close. He seems to have a lot more goodwill than Hillary.

(still should have been Bernie tho)

Kanye West has reportedly withdrawn from the contest. LOL. Was he ever really in it?

From The Telegraph. Now as a huge Trump fan I don't agree with this. He should put his personal dislikes to one side and respect that they were holders of the Office.

"In a break with tradition, the White House of President Donald Trump has removed the portraits of two recent presidents, Bill Clinton and George W Bush, from the building's entrance hall. The two paintings were moved from the Grand Foyer, where the portraits of recent presidents usually hang, to the Old Family Dining Room, which CNN described as "a small, rarely used room that is not seen by most visitors". It said the room was mainly used to store tablecloths and furniture.

In place of pictures of Mr Trump's recent predecessors, there now hang pictures of William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901, and of Theodore Roosevelt, his vice president who succeeded him upon his death.

Mr Trump would have seen the two modern day Presidents portraits on a daily basis in their previous position.

Mr Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton said in his recently published book that Mr Trump "despised" both George W Bush and his father. Hillary Clinton, wife of the former president and former Secretary of State, became an object of Mr Trump's ire when she ran against him in 2016, and has been a frequent critic of his leadership.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment on Friday."

I think he is still in it, he held a rally yesterday didn't he. I am all for him being a viable third candidate, and I think its a bit unfair some of the media reaction to his speech. There should have been more social distancing in the crowd at his rally though that's my only criticism.

That is your only criticsm — nothing about calling slavery a choice or criticising Harriet Tubman?

I think he was trying to put across a lot of the points that Reni Eddo-Lodge made in her brilliant book but in a really clumsy and ham-fisted way, there was some context behind those statements.

You are right, on looking up more online about Harriet Tubman, I can't appear to find anything to criticise her about. As for calling slavery a choice, you are right I don't agree with that.

Yep very spicy indeed Iz. Mind you Covid is said to be rampant now in Florida, the worst state with a major rise in cases. The Republicans are said to be desperately hoping it'll all be gone by the election though and somehow Trump may become popular again. Hmm, a tall order I think.

There are even whispers in the US press that if he thinks it could help him win he'll drop Pence before the Convention and blame him for the Covid mistakes and choose a female running mate, maybe Nikki Haley. He'd do anything to win.

Trump's net approval rating is still falling weekly and no President has ever been re-elected with a negative rating. It's even said today, Sat., that Texas may be up for grabs too. :o

Trump has floated the idea of postponing the election and has continued to claim (with his usual lack of anything resembling evidence) that postal voting will lead to widespread fraud (which, apparently, will only be committed by one party). Even Republicans have been quick to say that he doesn't have the power to postpone the election. Only Congress has that power although, as has been stated before, Trump's term ends on 20 January regardless of when the election is held.
I've been CAUTIOUS not to get too involved this time (I'm still RECOVERING from 2016), but Trump's campaign, at this stage, is probably the greatest comedy never written.
