I do have to agree with the criticisms that this should've been the time to put a twist on the typical bond theme and that feels missing from the song

I was also admittedly hoping that they'd differ a bit from the string-laden slow song formula a bit and do something a bit like bury a friend. That's three in a row now with that formula and it would be nice to have something different.

 

That said, I am really liking this on first listen though, amazingly atmospheric and great vocals. I disagree that it could've been by anyone, it sounds just like something she'd release? I think her style really fits very well.

I don't really see the point of hiring Billie Eilish to deliver this song. Any indie girl on spotify could have delivered this.

 

Its not bad, but there's no sparkle for me, not like Ocean Eyes or Six Feet Under or Everything I Wanted, of her slower moments. Tbh I was hoping for an uptempo.

Billie's name is the main reason why they got her to do the song. She's the biggest female active, right now. She has mass appeal to pop and those more alternative people as well as both younger and the older generation.

 

Plus, she probably had a hand in writing this as well as getting her brother on production duties.

Yeah on paper this isn't the sort of song I'd usually enjoy at all - but it just works for me! I do love an orchestra though

I heard this once earlier this morning and my initial reaction was that it was boring for a Bond theme and boring for a Billie Eilish song.

This is okay but I was hoping for a goosebump moment that never came. Will be sticking with Everything I Wanted for my Alternative Now 105!

I'm not immediately loving this as much as I wanted to but it is good and I do think it'll probably be a grower. It was definitely getting better as it went along even during that first listen (the first minute or so was kind of giving me Gabrielle Aplin 'The Power Of Love' teas which is really not a good thing oops xx but yes, it did pick up a lot later in the song).
