Not as easy as it sounds Jack. They're so fast! Wife had one cornered in the bathroom once and she was determined to kill it. She speared it with a meat fork. :o

Vile.

The deaths are going to continue to be in triple figures for a few weeks now because the impact of lockdown won't have been felt.

Plus yes i know I said it before but the government was a. too late to ban flights from Italy and b. too late to introduce social distancing restrictions. If they would have done those two things earlier, I wonder how much lower the daily death rate would have been...

Let's hope he didn't lick them personally.

:o

A 13 year-old schoolboy from Brixton has died in Kings College Hospital, London and had no underlying health conditions.

And still frontline NHS staff cannot get guaranteed tests - this is ridiculous. The WHO have said since February TEST TEST TEST!

We all know the important people in uk society!!

Awful , as are all these stories of individual fatalities, I haven't been so saddened by the news since the listeria sandwich hospital deaths in the UK a few years ago which were awful to hear about. Hopefully young people will take notice though and realise it's not just the elderly that can have severe symptoms. Thankfully the schools are closed now, sadly it came too late to prevent this death

900 coronavirus deaths reported yesterday in the USA (unsure about which 24 hour period this covers exactly, particularly because the country has multiple timezones). This is the worst daily death toll in any country except for 27th March in Italy, which saw 919 deaths.

I could honestly see the country, or at least a number of states, suffering the highest death toll per capita amongst developed countries by the end of this. Not least because of the confused message coming from the federal government and the extremely belated response from some states - some Republican states still haven't imposed bar/restaurant/shop and non-essential business closures whereas that feels like a lifetime ago here. And then there's its healthcare system.

Trump has changed his tune now and said 250,000 Americans may die in the next few weeks and has said it's a plague. He's no longer saying it'll be over at Easter as he's obviously realised it won't. Sky News said his experts have shown him data and made him understand the serious of the situation there. He intended to re-open America, lifting all restrictions in 2 weeks, just after Easter, for the sake of the economy.

Even by Trump's standards his comment about lifting restrictions by Easter was unbelievably stupid. It made Theresa May's commitment to rehouse all the victims of Grenfell Tower within three weeks seem positively reasonable.

He's now apparently saying three weeks maximum after Easter. Far too optimistic.

Again, almost certainly far too optimistic. Yes, there is a case for trying to raise morale, but predictions like this risk damaging morale far more when restrictions are still in place in three months' time.

I remember saying a while ago (it must have been at least 3 weeks ago, as it was at work!) that the USA will end up being the largest casualty of it as they've the perfect storm of 1) the president 2) the healthcare system and 3) the way they're wired means they're the most likely of all nations to have a lot of people ignoring restrictions.

I'll be amazed if there aren't some form of restrictions in place (whether it's about crowds or travelling) until there's a vaccine. Seen a lot of gigs etc. being arranged for September onward thinking they're being very optimistic.

Belgium seems to be stabalising right now. The number of daily recoveries is gettig closer to the amount of daily hospitalisations. Lemme pray this continues

Yeh China was the right country as they are more used to following orders whereas the more western nations are least likely to follow orders.

I'm sorry, first the whole bog roll saga and now this. Your wife is a barbarian.

And now the MAGA idiots on Twitter are defending him by saying that he never called this virus a hoax. He literally changes his mind every single day. I'm really struggling to actually FATHOM how SO many people take him seriously.

Can Nancy try to impeach him again after all of this is over (IF this is over by November) due to the utter incompetence which led to thousands of deaths plz? It's literal manslaughter.

Same goes for other country leaders who did absolutely nothing.

Israel is such a great example of how to act fast. They barely had 10 deaths and the entire country went to lockdown immediately. Thousands die to America - restaurants are still open.

Two of my colleagues are off with symptoms rn, and it's getting really hard to bite my tongue when I just keep seeing pure idiocy day in day out. People still doing ANYTHING to pay with cash even though they have a card they can pay with, people just waltzing in risking people because they fancy a Wispa and a Sun... Like do the rules just not apply to you hun? It's really not that difficult, stay at home and just get some bits once or twice a week to keep you going. You see the same faces every day, just buying a bit of chocolate or a drink, and I just don't know how much longer I can bite my tongue! My colleagues went to work, came home, didn't go anywhere, so them getting symptoms is because of idiots swanning in like that and it's just so selfish! I can't fathom that mentality at all.
