Eddie Large of comedy group Little And Large has died of Coronavirus and magician Dynamo has it.

569 more UK deaths.

48,556 deaths worldwide. Just told someone off on another forum who said "this is real folks, stay in, millions are dying" It may never even reach a million.

Sorry this isn’t aimed directly at you Chris, more generally. I think now we’re reaching higher figures in each country, if can we have consideration and be mindful of others when posting daily the specific figures of those who have died. It is obviously important as to tracking what stage we are at and how under control it is but remember it may be distressing to other members and, for those interested, the information is easily accessible elsewhere e.g. the BBC News website. This isn’t to prevent discussion about what stage each country is at, trends, general increases/decreases and which measures are proving more effective etc, just if we can look to avoid highlighting specific daily updates.

More than happy if people have a different view to this, this is just my take. There are higher figures naturally coming in and, as we can unfortunately see, this is directly impacting on people’s personal lives. I just want to be mindful of people’s mental health.

Sorry to hear that you've lost your friends harve and dandy...stay safe *hugs*

Indeed :(

From Sky News.

"In Northern Ireland the so-called "old person's disease" continues not to be the case: 32% of cases are younger than aged 45, compared to 28% over 70. Many people, mainly young, still think only old people catch it and die"

Such news is depressing but very important in getting across the message that not only older people can experience severe symptoms or die from it so everyone needs to protect themselves from the virus.

On the more positive side our daily death numbers in NI are still quite low, 6 today and 2 yesterday, long may that stay the case here, although if we would have banned flights from Italy earlier and locked down earlier there may have been fewer deaths still.

I do agree with this. It’s becoming a sensitive topic as it is, people on here have lost people (thoughts with you guys) so I think heavy handed posting of articles and figures should be done more carefully if at all.

Why is he even out of isolation? Didn't he only go in to isolation last Friday? It's 7-14 days but 7 minimum I thought? He's on QT tonight. Hope the others are giving him a very wide berth.

Why is Matt Hancock giving press conferences and appearing on Question Time when at the end of last week he tested positive with the virus? Either he had it which is surely woeful negligence and doing absolutely nothing to deter others who may spread the virus, or he didn't and the government were just making it up. Either way yet more proof what an absolute shitshow this government is.
Today marks the first day that someone I know has died from this. It’s really horrible as the family affected only just lost one of their daughters at Christmas

OMG that's awful. Still in fresh grief and a second death. Sorry Dandy and to Harve too.

I mean, a cynical person might even believe Boris having to go into isolation just before the death rate soared wasn’t a coincidence.

Maybe he had symptoms before last Friday?

Maybe he had symptoms before last Friday?

I would say that's the likely explanation and he's been in isolation for 7 days.

Isn't it meant to be 14 days? Hope Fiona Bruce quizzes him tonight.

UK guidance is 7 days if you had the virus/symptoms and 14 days for any members of your household.

I think WHO are saying blanket 14 days though.

Initially they said 7 days but then seemed to change to 14 days but have still heard some say 7 days at least.

Should be her first question!

Suppose the person who has symptoms doesn't need 14 days. I'd go with the WHO though.

Did anyone hear him cough last week?

That's awful...didn't sound like he was that old if he was a university friend too :(

He started uni late so was a bit older than most of us but obviously not what you'd consider to be a vulnerable age group - 28 years old :/

Thanks guys.
