A lot of continental Europe is taking big steps back towards normality. I think even the borders between BE/NL and DE are opening again on Monday.

Looking forward to eating in a restaurant again

The Be/NL is staying closed till 8th of june for sure, as Be sees NL as a risk area. All whole we've been doing similarly or even better than BE lmao

This is going to be so much fun to police. What’s to stop someone from Venlo driving to Mönchengladbach then down to Aachen and across into Liege? Going to be a right mess!

I’ve seen LU complain very strongly about DE not lifting restrictions with them even though they’re next to BE/NL. Such a mess

Tbh the Belgian-Dutch border was closed one sided. The Dutch kept them open and the German Dutch border was open aside from the police urging to go back.

The BeNL border has actual police posts on the highway that stop every car and check their reasons for movinf. Plenty people get sent back. The small borders are closed off entirely with sand, contructionstuff etc

Sturgeon confirmed today Scotland has extended for three more weeks.

The conflict is because one is an incompetent dipshit with the clarity of the Thames and the other is Nicola Sturgeon.

Is this not going to confuse everyone on Sunday then he is addressing the UK but Scotland are saying these rules don’t apply?

It shouldn’t confuse anyone with a brain and internet access to be quite honest.

I assume you haven’t lived in Scotland before, Nicola Sturgeon is disliked by a large amount of the population and if Boris is giving a contradictory message there will be problems whether they have a brain or internet connection.

The UK message should be delivered as one or we start doing it individually between each of the UK countries.

That sounds to me as another disregard of the will of the scottish government but that is the topic of another conversation

We have a devolved administration, you can't just take back control because of a virus. I'm fairly certain certain measures will be aligned e.g. schools as I think both governments are on the same wavelength with regards to that thinking. But behind all this there's obviously political point scoring, you can see it a mile off.

I'm of the thinking we shouldn't open it by region, it just becomes so hard to manage. I think as far as I am aware, France are the exception rather than the normal of a centralised government. All you're going to get in a mass influx of people moving around the country uncessarily so they can have looser restrictions.

ScotGov releasing those statements means that London doesn't have their shit together (shock horror) and BoJo needs to work much harder at uniting the countries instead of controlling them if they want to continue having "United" in the country name.

A discussion for another day, but The SNP have obviously used this situation (rightly or wrongly) to their political advantage in certain situations to achieve their goal of independence. It's clear as mud. Like I said, rightly or wrongly..

All this suggests that the UK government says they want the whole country to act in unison but haven't bothered to give the devolved administrations any idea of what their plans are. As ever with this Cummings administration, the top priority is to make the government look good.

It looks to me like Boris is just waiting to see what everyone else is doing and putting the feelers out for what he thinks the public want to hear. Nothing new there then. I mean, he waited until after Scotland and Wales announced school closures to announce the same thing for England after spending most of that week saying ‘we don’t think it’s the right time for schools to close yet’ when in reality it should have happened at least a week earlier.

I really don’t know what to expect come Sunday but I wouldn’t get your hopes up for any immediate significant change. He says he’ll announce the plan not lift the restrictions.

Nicola is protecting her citizens. Schools would never have closed at all if not for Scotland pulling their finger out.

Honestly I really struggle to understand how you can live in the dystopia that is England with your politicians who openly, *blatantly* don't give a shit, and can turn around and look at the actions of the Scottish leader as 'playing politics for an agenda'. Nothing is being played here. It's literally only the Tories who are continuing to treat it all as a game that can be won just by saying the right words or twisting the figures the right way.

Honestly, no offence but the faith that some of you repeatedly have that *this time* despite it not being the case for the past 40 times in a row, no, this time perhaps the Tories are telling the truth...is almost staggering.

He has said he hopes to ease some restrictions on Monday rather than just delivering the plan. I expect these to be work related easing for some sectors rather than anything that impacts individuals.

Which is why I said not to get hopes up, most of us probably won’t be affect by anything on Monday.

Johnson reprimanded by the Speaker at length and ended with this comment:

He also referenced the Ministerial Code, which states that “the most important announcements of Government policy should be made in the first instance, in Parliament”

So in other words he's avoiding the British Parliamentary democratic legal process to spout some media PR to try and control the message he wants to get over, no doubt that "we are all in this together even the richest twats among us can get it" and "let's get Covid-19 Done" and "I didn't really cause the deaths of thousands of people, vote for me" and "I won WW2 by cheering on the British Spirit Hip Hip Hooray For Me Vera Lynn Winston Churchill Union Jacks tallyho".

Pause for hair tussling to divert attention from his haggard dead eyes, before continuing on about opening up outdoor businesses and small shops and allowing people outdoors as long as they keep 2m away from other family groups.

I propose a drinking game. Every time he invokes WW2 spirit drink a pint. Every time he says we're in it together drink a pint. The nation will be pissed within 15 minutes.

Every time he apologises for his useless decisions (future historians will easily have a books-worth of material) go out and buy a lottery ticket cos you're more likely to win the jackpot than Bojo accept he's made fatal mistakes....

The testing target has been missed for the fourth day in a row. This is despite Johnson also announcing we will be doing 200,000 tests a day by the end of May.

You said he will announce the plan not lift restrictions. I was highlighting to you that he said restrictions are probably being lifted on Monday regardless of what they may be.
