Radar :')))))))))))))) Don't even think it's worthy of being a single, let alone feature on multiple albums and be pushed years after it was first heard. Delete!

Criminal and INAG,NYAW are lovely tracks. The latter I never really paid attention to, but it's grown in my affection recently

I remember Scream & Shout getting to #1 being a MOMENT, but the song annoys me a bit now oop-

3 is a fun jam, but not essential ~

Ooft getting the real good stuff now and we start the top 25 with a brand new entry into the rate, it's the 2nd and final single from 'Glory', Slumber Party. When this was first announced as a single I wasn't sure what to think as I, personally, preferred 3 or 4 other tracks to get the single treatment, and then Britney and her team announced that Queen Tinashe was set to feature on the single remix of the song. The video SNAPPED and when I tell you how grateful we were as Britney stans for that video, WE WERE GRATEFUL, especially considering the MESS that was from the first single. Such an underrated bop and I'm a little sad to see it miss the top 20. I Wanna Go follows next as it falls 4 places since the last rate. The 3rd single to be taken from the 'Femme Fatale' era. It went on to become Britney's 3rd consecutive top 10 hit in the US and is (iirc) her biggest radio hit over there to date! Radio lapped that up, BIG time.

The big time collaboration from 2003 Me Against The Music featuring the iconic, legendary and one of Britney's greatest friends, Madonna is next to fall out. This song went on to be a big hit, but is seen as an under performance due to the 2 names involved at the time! However, it seems that over time it's become more fondly thought of on this site as it manages to climb 6 places in the rate this time to a respectable 23. Now we move onto the final of 3 new entries into the rate this year, Make Me. The lead single from Britney's 9th studio album, 'Glory'. This really didn't make an impact in the charts much at all and it's such a shame as the sound feels the most relevant for Britney since her 2011 album 'Femme Fatale'. The song is SO good! Very underrated and it saddens me that it couldn't reach the top 20, but considering this wasn't a top 40 hit, are we surprised? :kink:

Finally, we have another climber in the rate this year, it's Britney's 2nd UK single the ridiculously cute Sometimes as it manages to move up 4 spots to just outside the top 20 this time! 'Sometimes' went on to become a huge hit for Brit. It seems largely forgotten about nowadays, but I believe that one performance of this somewhere and people will lap it up again. It's pretty nostalgic! The video is iconic for one of her friends scratching and itching the groin area quite subtly on camera :') But the all white look and the whole romance on the beach thing is legendary.

I used to be OBSESSED with Me Against The Music. Madonna's "hey Britney" and "sexy lady" :teresa: I never realised until later how poorly it was received by many. Tbf the song itself is nothing amazing but that video...!

I've recently converted into a 'Me Against The Music' stan. So the run of that / 'Toxic' / 'Everytime' now confirmed even more flawless <3

'Slumber Party' is my favourite 'Glory' single and 'I Wanna Go' my favourite 'Femme Fatale' single - shame to see both just missing out on top 20! 'Make Me...' was a great lead too - the 'Glory' era in general deserved so much more tbh. 'Sometimes' is cute but the least essential here for me.

Respectable entries for Slumber Party and Make Me even though I would have expected at least top 20 for Make Me.

Nice jump for MATM :cheer:

Make Me desered so so so so much more. It's SUBLIME. Love Slumber Party too, but it's about where i'd expect it to be.

I Wanna Go is FUN, if only for it providing us with this iconic performance:

Sometimes is very cute and MATM I should like more on paper, but it doesn't quite do it for me.

^^omg completely forgot for that iconic moment

some really good bops in this section. Make Me is my most played song ever. It was such nice track, but they have ruined eveyrthing with video.

Fun fact: I was gonna post Make Me as the video for that section, but the video is so awful, I didn't want to link to it :magic:

Big catch up...

'I'm Not a Girl...' ranked towards the lower end of my list although was still a 7/10. Always been such a cute song, lyrically it was perfect for Britney and where she was in her life and I'm sure many of her fans could identify with them.

'Scream & Shout' remains one of her most relevant songs with the general public. I like that it recognised how iconic "it's Britney, bitch" is and helped ingrain it into pop culture, but I can see why most fans don't put the song itself up there as one of their favourites. I do enjoy it whenever I hear it out though.

'Criminal' is another underrated gem but at least it's higher than I was expecting it to be. I guess it's fortunate that the single before it was such a hit in the US otherwise it probably wouldn't have been released.

I like 'Radar' but it's down there as one of my least favourites, definitely too high and at the expense of more deserving songs. I actually associate this song more with Circus as that was the first Britney album I bought. I remember the video being played a fair bit (although I was obsessed with music channels at the time) and it mainly being about horses lol. I think it was meant to be some sort of homage to Madonna's 'Take a Bow'.

'3' is the biggest loss for me - it's nearly or just Top 10 for me! I bet it must be strange for non-chart fans to see it was a US #1 and one of her biggest songs over there. Such a fun, playful bop. I remember a radio station at the time of release pretended it was about Neapolitan ice cream as a way of making it 'appropriate' to play. :')

Agreed with Jonjo re: 'Slumber Party'. It was never one of my picks for single #2 but the Tinashe remix and then that incredible video really made me change my mind. In fact, I think this could have been bigger than 'Make Me' if it had been the lead and had the VMA performance. I do really like 'Make Me' too and I thought it was really fresh and exciting at the time. I recall it sticking around on iTunes reasonably well which made me think it had the potential to be a decent hit - with a better video, who knows?

'I Wanna Go' is one of those I thought I'd not like as much as time went on but it's still such a bop today. Always found the video a bit weird.

As a song itself, I really like 'Me Against the Music' and the video's choreography is up there with one of Britney's best. I can admit it doesn't live up to the hype of the two names involved though if you consider these are arguably the two best female pop stars of all time. Madonna doesn't really have much input in the song at all and, if it wasn't for the video, she'd have been completely wasted.

I never used to like 'Sometimes' but I gave it a chance quite recently and it is actually a really cute song. The standard of Britney's singles has meant it hasn't been able to rise through the ranks too much but it's definitely on its way.

This is how the Glory era should have went =

Do You Wanna Come Over
Love Me Down
Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
Slumber Party (Ft Tinashe)

Love Me Down

I think that Love Me Down would be great lead single, it has that boom effect because it's a banger.

Love Me Down

Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)

Do You Wanna Come Over

Make Me...

and for the end of the era virtual smash If I'm Dancing

Kicking off into top 20 we have lead single from Britney's first compilation album Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. That is a cover of Bobby Brown. The single was an european hit with few number ones and top 5 peaks everywhere, but sadly it bombed in USA. For me this is definitely one of the best covers ever done. The song represented Britney's life at that time, so it doesn't suprised us that she cover it. Sadly these days the song is not that much popular, maybe the reason is coz she never performed it on any tour, so casual fans probably forgot that exist. The music video is one of the sexiest of hers ever.

On 19 position we have a third single from Circus album, If U Seek Amy which had controversy about hidden meaning.

F-U-C-K ME.

The single did rather good on the charts, mainly it reached top 20 peaks everywhere. These days the streams for the song has risen up thanks to TikTok app.

Her version of 'My Prerogative' was such a genius idea for a cover  I prefer it to the original!

11-year-old me was SHOOK at the double meaning of 'If U Seek Amy'

  • Author

Yeah one of the rare instances where the cover is so much better than the original, for me.

IUSA is so basic (even if I can bop to it - her performance of it on her tours are so uplifting though). A song I never really go back to.

Skip those two. IUSA is fun but should've remained an album track - saying that I was OBSESSED with it when it was out and thought I was such a bad bitch swearing along to it.

My Prerogative

Well done BJ making that top 20 :cheer:

Amy is ok, I would not have it as high as 19 but it's good!!!
