How did this album get beaten in sales by choir boys? As much as i like Rachel, that has to be kind of embarrassing, maybe even a little humiliating for her
I bet Pricey got a good laugh at Rachel's expense though  I think pop music was in decline back in 2006.
Come & Get It ran so E-Mo-Tion could walk xxxxxxxxx
Gave this album a spin recently & WOW, how in hell did this pass me, its a MASTERPIECE!, definitely gives me Carly Rae Jepsen's 'EM-OT-ION's' vibes in that how criminally ignored this gem was, hell its a classic with so many great tracks & so many potential singles (2 of 3 that were released were great), although don't understand why 'Negotiate With Love' was picked as the lead, a very odd choice as it feels fairly weak in contrast to the other 2.

Maybe a stronger lead like 'Crazy Boys' or 'Funny How' - my decision would have been the latter as its a great bouncy pop song that's very reminiscent of 80's disco & vocally & musically flows perfectly. My other faves on this are 'So Good', 'I Said Never Again', 'I Will Be There', 'Nothing Good About This Goodbye' & 'Dumb Dumb'.

These would have been my single choices =

Funny How Either this or 'CB' would have been far more suitable as this could have easily generated more buzz for the album. Plus wouldn't have this released the same week as Mariah & Kylie's, maybe a week or 2 later and have a higher chart peak.

So Good - A belting little pop number that was criminally robbed, this should have been top 5 at the very least. This was also a strong album opener & musically. vocally & lyrically very defiant. A smart choice for a follow up.

I Said Never Again (But Here We Are) - Another great track with an almost glam-rock feel with a little dance tinge. Again this was a great choice that got overlooked, this at the very least deserved top 10. Maybe with a stronger/better lead single (like the one I suggested) then maybe could have generated more hype for this & 'SG'.

Nothing Good About This Goodbye - This was gonna be the next single & could have been that make or break moment with its cool pulsating synths & catchy chorus that shows another side of the album & give the public something a little different from what we've had so far, A true lost classic & should have been given a fighting chance.

Crazy Boys - In a perfect world I would have made this the 5th and final single from this epic collection that continues in a similar vein of 'ISNA', but with a more electro feel, not sure how this would have done chart wise, but who cares its a BANGER.

What do u guys think, maybe I'll do a full review of this album in this thread.
This album came out at the wrong time :(

i love this! i’d love to see a full album review

Yes, please do a full review Sam!!

Been listening to my album highlights on my walk today - Secret Garden, Nothing Good About This Goodbye, Funny How and Dumb Dumb

Still enjoying this album more than her debut.

what are your faves from this one? i agree this is so much more enjoyable

I relistened to this for the first time in what must be at least a Decade, earlier today.

So Good: Yeah. This is her best song, bar none. I love it so much. It feels a bit odd as an album opener though! I'd have probably switched this and 'Crazy Boys' in all honesty! But WHAT a song. 10.0

I Said Never Again (But Here We Are): This really packed a punch! Showed that Rachel can give attitude and deliver a storming pop-rock song at the same time. The video is always envisioned in my head as I remember seeing it everywhere! Iconic. 10.0

Crazy Boys: The song 'Some Girls' should have been. Soz. This HITS like a brick and it's not surprising to see that it was written and produced by the same people that did 'Some Girls' (Richard X (writer & producer) & Hannah Robinson (writer)) such a huge track that deserved to not only open the album, but get the single treatment. 10.0

I Will Be There: This song is dreamy! It reminds me of something Annie would release, much like a couple of others on the album actually. One of the best of the slower tempo songs I think. 09.0

Negotiate With Love: That bassline. *.* The one thing that really sells this song is the production. So simple and understated, but packs a punch all the same. The line "Could you turn the track down a little bit, please?" is I C O N I C *_* Leona tried it on one of her albums, but failed. A great song. 09.0

It's All About Me: I think this might have been the sort of song S Club would have released in 2005 as they were trying to shake off their "appeals to the kids" image. I mean that in the best possible way btw. A bop. 08.5

Secret Garden: Another one of the tracks that reminds me a lot of Annie (the singer not the musical x). So subtle and majestic. Lovely 08.0

Nothing Good About This Goodbye: Absolutely stunning! Should've been a single, for sure. Would've worked well as the 4th single too, imo! Absolutely gorgeous 10.0

Some Girls: During it's release, I hated this song. I found it whiny and annoying. Listening to it now.. I still feel the same, just not as strongly lol. It's a bit of a bop. 07.5

Je M'appelle: The verses and and chorus sound like they shouldn't work together, but it really does!? A banger. This was ridiculously ahead of it's time! So daring. Who knew Rachel "nice girl" Stevens could pull off something as gritty and daring as this *.* 09.0

Funny How: I feel like we go on a journey with this song. The production is very 'Tangled Up'-era Girls Aloud (which is the greatest girl group album of all time, so this is a compliment x)! 08.0

Every Little Thing: This really reminds me of another song, except the melody isn't as prominent! Maybe 'True Blue' by Madge mixed with 'Sweet Dreams..' by R Stevens herself? Idk. But the melody is really familiar! A really cute song and this would definitely have been on an S Club album had they stayed together by that point. 08.5

Dumb Dumb: I love the "Dumb d-d-dumb" hook. Another song that actually might've worked as a single, but perhaps later on in the campaign (if the campaign was to be stretched out to 6 songs ofc x). A nice ending to the album! 08.0

Average: 8.88.

Amazing. It really was ahead of it's time. It holds up so, SO well atm. Especially with this nostalgic sound by the likes of Dua and The Weeknd being so big. It fits right in. Obsessed <3

My ranking:

01. So Good

02. Crazy Boys

03. I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)

04. Nothing Good About This Goodbye

05. I Will Be There

06. Je M'appelle

07. Negotiate With Love

08. Every Little Thing

09. It's All About Me

10. Dumb Dumb

11. Secret Garden

12. Funny How

13. Some Girls

---

Should have been the singles campaign:

01. Crazy Boys

02. So Good

03. Nothing Good About This Goodbye

04. I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)

05. Negotiate With Love

06. Dumb Dumb

Ofc 6 single campaigns were a rarity way back then and 3/4 was the cut off point </3 But w/e. Negotiate With Love shouldn't have led the era!

yaaas jonjo - stan it! it’s such a strong pop album. you’re spot on about most of the songs :kink:
I don't think I've ever given this a full spin. Will do that tomorrow!

1. Some Girls

2. Negotiate With Love

3. I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)

4. Nothing Good About This Goodbye

5. Dumb Dumb

6. So Good

7. Funny How

8. Secret Garden

9. Crazy Boys

10. Je M'Appelle

11. Every Little Thing

12. I Will Be There
