Madonna makes it through the gruelling Ballad round! :cheer:

Now:

ROUND 08: A song that closed an era

> The final single of an era.

Confirming our definition of what makes a single: A single is a song that is fully pushed and promoted as a single from the album. NO "radio only singles". <

I'd say our main choices are between:

La Isla Bonita

Nothing Really Matters

Jump

Do we agree, or does anyone have any other burning favourites that closed an era and are potentially more popular than these?

'La Isla Bonita' is a huge classic and one of the few Madonna songs that won't be hindered by being an older song. 'Jump' could also prove popular though.

Jump meh

La Isla Bonita :w00t:

Nothing Really Matters

I think La Isla Bonita is the right choice for this  it's just undeniably iconic and classic!!!

A potentially round with La Isla Bonita and Alejandro :cheeseblock:

Between 'Jump' and 'La Isla Bonita' for me (as much as I love 'Nothing Really Matters', it's probably the least popular of those three). Finding it hard to decide between the first two!

I reckon LIB would be one of those "omg I didn't realise it was Madonna" or "Wait, I know and love this" etc..

My personal choice would be Jump, but LIB could be a contender for my votes tbh.

As a Madonna fan it's hard to comprehend that someone wouldn't know 'La Isla Bonita' was by her, but you could be right! I definitely think it'll have the biggest reach - old fans love it, new fans love it, and I think it's one that people who are impartial will enjoy!

I'm talking more in terms of the younger audience who may have heard it in passing through their parents etc.. but never really took notice to the song before etc.. (maybe I'm wrong though)

This will be a good opportunity to make them aware then! It's a summer essential.

I feel it's my job to say this: 'Bye Bye Baby' is eligible again :cheeseblock:

Otherwise, I'm not certain whether I prefer 'Jump' or 'La Isla Bonita', but the latter is the clear choice to me! If it was a bigger '00s hit it might be a safer idea, but it's a relatively minor '00s hit against one of her most loved '80s classics - I don't think there'd be many people who know the former but not the latter.

Not Jump it's too basic! La Isla Bonita is easily her strongest choice for this one, I personally prefer Nothing really matters but I think LIB would get more votes.
