May 4, 20205 yr Yeah I wanted to choose that tame impala song as I feel like most know the Rihanna song but I wanted to showcase the original as my anniversary entry *.* Genius entry tbh! I’m also kinda surprised Pete Wentz/Fall Out Boy was allowed for similar reasons although I suppose the song hasn’t become a hit yet and may be lesser known
May 4, 20205 yr I already have the workaround xx Just so you know, Wardy and I were on there on Friday evening and it stopped working. Even re-entering the code/refreshing didn’t work but maybe it’ll be fine a different day
May 4, 20205 yr Ooh NHS70! I've had that in my head quite a bit the past month or so (presumably for the same reason it got sent) and I know The Rubens song as well, mainly as a result of Dexton spamming it in my persona chart :P
May 4, 20205 yr This has to be New Lexico's to lose~ Susanne Sundfør is long overdue for a win in this x Edited May 4, 20205 yr by Condebola*
May 4, 20205 yr I will sincerely be so upset if I DNQ (which I prob will judging by the draw!) as this entry of mine is my current song of the year  That chorus is just to die for!
May 4, 20205 yr I see a couple former Klum representatives in semi one :o Hopefully Montaigne and Rebecca & Fiona do their countries proud! My entry this month has been a potential for a while so I'm not head over heels obsessed with it like some of my other entries, all I hope for is a qualification and we're at least on par if not better than last month's result! It's very early 10's European summer holiday hit that never crossed over to the UK.
May 4, 20205 yr I was expecting to see Spaces in PopJustice this month, but the biggest bit of pop in the last month appears here instead. Some of the songs that got through veto here are insane, but I guess I come here with a popjustice understanding of what's big, and not a buzzjack one. Muna can already have all my points.
May 4, 20205 yr I'm a little mystified as to how Moyka is apparently such a big deal with a song that has less than 5,000 views on YouTube. Even for a niche online interest act that seems extremely low. Just so you know, Wardy and I were on there on Friday evening and it stopped working. Even re-entering the code/refreshing didn’t work but maybe it’ll be fine a different day Well this worried me for a second  but I just tested and it is definitely still working for me! (Refreshing causes it to not work, if you refresh you have to enter the code again)

I see Hypnotized got through over there, so there's definitely some choice allowances on both sides  I was surprised to see MUNA allowed here too actually but I can't pretend I've heard the song, think they're another that teeter somewhere in the middle of being niche and being well known enough.

I think are veto processes are very different, which is probably why these things happen, we really primarily look at the charts and our own forum, so Hypnotized is an easy yes but MUNA, Frida Sundemo & The Aces would be laughed out at a glance though (as the aces were this month). A suprising amount of cross over this month, a lot of songs from either this or last round of PJSC. (FLETCHER however seems to haunt both contests every other round like an underachieving but virilent strain of gonorrhea) Edited May 4, 20205 yr by imaduck
May 4, 20205 yr The standards of what can be considered a significant level of discussion on BuzzJack are a lot lower than on PopJustice as we're a much smaller forum but even by those standards there was nearly no interest on this forum for (at least these songs by) any of The Aces, FLETCHER, MUNA or Frida Sundemo, there was more attention for Purple Disco Machine than all of those combined probably. The only notable mark against any of those songs was them having some prior success in BJSC (The Aces less so than the rest) which in itself usually doesn't feel like enough to veto a new song that it doesn't appear many people will know.

May 5, 20205 yr The veto is incredibly subjective. Its by its nature never going to be something that gets a universal agreement really so I just work off what evidence I have in front of me at the time. Using Muna as the example maybe it helps if I explain my thought process, I’m just one person out of the group but hopefully it’ll help demystify some of the inner workings of the veto. This is what we are working off for the song in question: MUNA - Stayaway 15 - artist came 34th in BJSC 83 and 2nd in BJSC 92 3+12 - appeared in 3 personal charts, 2 of which are BJSC participants (Jay, Jupiter) - mid level blog coverage 2nd and 34th is a mixed bag, suggesting that they don’t have a consistent hit rate every time they are entered. The last entry was over three years ago and the contest has changed a lot in this time, so not necessarily the same audience is there. Two participants have charted the song, but that’s it for on-site buzz which suggests it’s not too widely known and those that know it haven’t been “oh my f***ing god you must listen to this” about it hence the lack of genre forum discussion. The lack of general internet background noise suggests it’s not likely to be something that a lot of people will have been knowingly exposed to without specifically looking it out. There’s not enough evidence in front of me to show that this is a really widely known track and so my vote is to allow it through. Past performance comes into it for me when the artist has a consistent hit rate and that success is quite recent. In a case like this I don’t give it quite so heavy a weighting in my deliberations. Dream contest for me is zero vetoes. All I can do is look at the evidence in front of my and decide if in my opinion it is likely that the song is quite well known among the participants and therefore giving that person a leg up in the competition. It’s a hard line to walk and I’m not saying we get every decision correct, because we absolutely don’t, but we do our best with what we can see and feel to make the right judgement. Where we get it wrong and veto a track, we have an appeals process that I strongly encourage the use of.
May 5, 20205 yr Does somebody maybe have an Apple Music playlist for Semi 2 please? 🙏 ❤️ Will there be a plug session, please let me know so I can diarize! Thanks so much!

Unfortunately we're not in the same Semi!

You're doing the job and I'm sure everyone loves you for it, I think people have a habit of self-punishing songs they don't think should be in anway. If it was up to me I'd let every song in, and we'd bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.
