This was the easiest list so far, even though there are a lot of great songs, just a few that stand out very much.

The amount of time I spent listening to reality TV content (and the usual Westlife etc) for this :') Shame the Will Young and Gareth Gates songs were largely the highest ones (though for understandable reasons obviously) because I felt they were among the most boring ones. On the other hand, I assumed 'Sacred Trust' would be a dreary ballad since I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned outside of in unflattering contrast to Girls Aloud, but I actually liked it!

 

I had heard Mad'House's 'Like A Prayer' at some point before but I was confused by it until I read that it was based on a mashup of 'Like A Prayer' and 'You See The Trouble With Me' (I'm presuming just someone trying to capitalise on a mashup that couldn't be released commercially... kind of like 'Freak Like Me'). That makes sense. (Their follow-up 'Holiday' cover meanwhile sounds 100% based on 'Music Sounds Better With You' with a bit of the Black Legend bassline thrown in.)

 

I notice the nu metal and alt rock content the 2001 list slightly flirted with is already gone (bar kind of Marilyn Manson and Nickelback I guess, The Calling at a stretch), RIP. That's not surprising but what is surprising to me is how dance music also seems to have fallen off a cliff in this list too. Maybe Eminem was right about nobody listening to techno

 

Thanks for specifying the remix for 'Ain't It Funny' because I'm guessing the 'original' would be more popular here so people might vote it for that if it wasn't specified, but it would be wrong for 2 completely different songs with nothing in common to count together :P I love the remix though, it's my favourite J.Lo song.

 

I had forgotten Liberty X were made up of rejects for Hear'Say... wow at how different their music went.

Argh, SO GOOD is this year... I'd say Shakira X2, Pink, Kylie, DJ Sammy and Avril are all equally winner worthy. Literally everything here would be on at least 8 points onwards and loads missing out would easily be top 20 as well. Such an incredibly difficult yet brilliant selection of songs. 2002 is up there with the best 00's years for me :wub:
