Now that it’s officially out I can say..

Swish Swish bitch

I wonder why they decided to release now so close to the release of the album, I think I’m gonna hold off on listening to it

I think it's smart! Tomorrow, the song will have been overshadowed by the entire album being out, but this way with the fanbase behind it, it gives a HUGE talking point on social media a few hours before the album comes out and it gets its own chance in the spotlight. Also for streaming purposes, it gets a chance to be added quicker and beat the other new releases tomorrow!

This bops! Even at 2:37, it doesn't feel too short, everything about the song is measured just right.

Sounds like Girls Like

Bop

Thanks for spoiling it. Can't un-hear that now. x

It reminds me of Girls Like, and it could be a runway song on Drag Race tbh, bopping!

This is a total BOP.

And smart strategy to release it JUST before the album and generate some extra buzz.

I'm not too sure on this just yet! It's definitely not single material so probably a wise move to push it into the limelight a day before the rest and so the BLACKPINK stans can get a hold of it and hype it. I'm also a little thrown by the irregular structure to the song however I might grow to like that and it might sound even better within the album.

I think I'd prefer if we got Gaga first and then BLACKPINK appeared later to make more of an 'event' of them appearing on the track. Interesting this is also another house inspired song, think Chromatica will sound quite different to anything we've had from Gaga before.

However a positive is that Girls Like is sounding quite a bit better than I remember it!

From the Metro UK online newspaper

The dance banger (Sour Candy) samples What They Say by Maya Jane Coles, which was previously heard in Katy Perry’s Swish Swish and Girls Like by Tinie Tempah and Zara Larsson.
