Are you going to Barnard Castle for that?

Yeah we get them in London at age 60 for £10 a year then free bus and tube travel after 9am, even those still working. After 65 we won't pay the fee each year. Wife finds it useful too at weekends. TBH it's not fair that you don't get one. Should be everyone at 60 in the country.

So another national lockdown in just 2 weeks according to ITV News, if the rule of 6 doesn't work. A key member of the Sage committee told ITV's Robert Peston "the only thing we know works is a full national lockdown"

Assume schools would close again then. What about pubs, shops etc? This could they say, split the country and split the Conservative party. Furlough ends 31st Oct so what if a lockdown extends beyond then or if we have a third one. They should have left the furlough situation up for review next month really.

Why didn't they make it say the rule of three or something. Six is still too many I think, some students will follow the rule of six rules having a house party with 5 people on Friday night and then one with a different five on Saturday night. Covid will still spread.

I don't drive. Otherwise I might have done :P

Have you ever had a licence Simon?

Still don’t think there’ll be another lockdown on a national scale

If there is another lockdown it will be in name only. Schools won’t close and I can’t see them closing shops or pubs either, just like the local lockdowns.

It’s a bit annoying that on my birthday in twelve days on the very limited time I’ll have at home I will only be able to meet with a small group of family whereas I will have spent the bulk of my day with 30+ students at a time indoors with no social distancing.

Neither have I but I’m kind of used to getting around without one it may change if I ever have kids though 😐. Hate the patronising remarks from drivers when they find out you don’t use private convenience culture vehicles.

Did anyone know that 10k people die in the UK on any normal week?

Really puts the covid figures into perspective.

I hope we can all stop living in fear in a few months because it's incredibly mentally unhealthy.

I've had a full licence since 1977 but never drove after the day of my test so surrended it a few years ago. Now I can't just renew it, would have to take another test. Driving isn't for me as am too nervous.

From Sky News.

THE North East will be plunged into lockdown from midnight TOMORROW with a reported 10pm curfew for pubs and restaurants.

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed large parts of the region will go into lockdown from midnight on Thursday.

The measures - which would affect around 1.5 million people - would include a 10pm curfew on pubs, restaurants and other licensed premises.

Mr Jenrick told ITV's Robert Peston this evening: "The number of cases has been rising rapidly in many parts of the country but in particular in the North East and so a decision has been made to impose further restrictions there.

"A full announcement will be made tomorrow and so people living in that area should watch out for that.

He added: "The measures will come into play at midnight on Thursday evening so over the course of the day a full briefing will made available to everybody including the councils and business community in that area."

The restrictions will reportedly apply to Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, County Durham and Sunderland - which have all seen rises in cases, according to the latest weekly rates.

Yes, but the problem is not everyone dies at once. I totally agree right now there is what I call "covid sensitivity about". Many people thinking they have covid.. when they don't. And also people putting their lives on hold for no reason except a little bit of fear.

However, the covid threat is very real and could wuickly spiral out of control. The whole world does not essentially shut down unless there is a very real threat. What you do not ever want is a situation where the NHS has to choose who lives and who dies, this is a very real threat. As always we need to maintain regular hospital treatment but there is a very real threat that anyone who visits a hospital could contact covid.

Now going to have to ring the restaurant and see if we can split our table up onto two separated tables otherwise I’ll probably lose my £130 deposit.

Getting beyond a joke now really, lets just ruin everyone’s mental health.

Yes, I've got used to those remarks as well. It's not as bad here in Brighton as the public transport system is pretty good.

Where on earth did you book that asked for a 130 quid deposit??

Same for me and one of the reasons why I stopped doing lessons When I moved to uni and still live close to town now where I work and can get a bus at the end of the street every 15 mins.

I would always choose patronising remarks over potentially being responsible for injuring someone with a deadly metal box I am controlling with my hands and feet.
Well this is very true, always find that people who own cars are ridiculously lazy and drive EVERYWHERE even to the end of the road to get a pint of milk. They also are very angry at anyone else who dares use the road such as cyclists.
