Biography

In 2017, an artist named beabadoobee released a sweet, acoustic ballad called “Coffee.” Fast forward two years, a producer under the name Otterpop sampled the “Coffee” hook into a beat. When young Canadian artist, Powfu, sang and rapped over the beat, then released it last February, it blew up. One year later, it is blowing up for the second time. Powfu’s iteration of “Coffee,” titled “death bed,” is gracefully melancholic. Beyond the title, this is evident through lyrics like “I wish it could be me, but I won’t make it out this bed / I hope I go to heaven so I see you once again.” With a punk-leaning cadence and a vocal timbre similar to G-Eazy, Powfu describes his music as alternative punk lo-fi hip-hop. It is clear each of these elements influences his sound, from songs like “Her Ocean Eyes,” which is reminiscent of the punk hip-hop combination of Twenty One Pilots, to tracks like “I can’t sleep,” in which Powfu both raps and sings over a supporting lo-fi beat. Upon its original Soundcloud release last February, “death bed” gained traction on both Soundcloud and YouTube (the YouTube video now has 27.6 million plays). TikTok soon caught up with this budding viral phenomenon. As of the time of writing this, over 958,900 TikToks have been made with the song, from sentimental videos about relationships and family to aesthetic, artistic videos. One especially popular TikTok trend has accompanied the growth of this song – a video in which the person filming confesses their feelings for a best friend and captures their reaction. This tipping point provoked a demand for the song to be on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Since its release to these platforms just two weeks ago, “death bed” has garnered over 20.8 million streams on Spotify, alone. Today’s technological landscape has allowed Powfu, who has been releasing music consistently since 2018, to invite millions of listeners into his world. The popularity of “death bed” has awarded Powfu substantial, continued exposure for his versatile, sad-boy sound. - OnesToWatch.com

Biography

Bring Me the Horizon, often known by the acronym BMTH, are an English rock band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group now consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively in the United States. The style of their early work, including their debut album Count Your Blessings, has been described primarily as deathcore, but they started to adopt a more eclectic style of metalcore on later albums. Furthermore, their latest album That's the Spirit marked a shift in their sound to less aggressive rock music styles.

The band released their debut album Count Your Blessings in 2006. Upon release, the album's sound polarised listeners, and was met with critical disdain. The band began to break away from their controversial sound with Suicide Season (2008), which was a creative, critical and commercial turning point for the band. Bring Me the Horizon released their third album, There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret., in 2010, propelling them to greater international fame, whilst incorporating influences from classical, electronica and pop. Their major label debut, Sempiternal (2013) achieved Gold certification in Australia (35,000) and Silver in the United Kingdom (60,000). That's the Spirit (2015) debuted at number two in the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. As well as these five studio albums, they have also released two extended plays and two live albums. They have received four Kerrang! Awards, including two for Best British Band and one for Best Live Band. - Wikipedia

Woah kings of non-top 40 top 100s. Them & Jake Bugg.

Remember Drown being such a random hit at the time & so is this. Do like it tho!

I really like this new BMTH song
Yay for BMTH getting their second top 40 hit. Throne and Medicine should have been bigger hits.
Still have fond memories of Drown charting in late 2014

Biography

The Swedish pop duo from Halmstad Jubël is the collaborative efforts of Mr Sebastian Atas and Mr Victor Sjöström. Prior to the birth of Jubël both Sebastian and Victor had both written, produced and released music for many years, but it was when the duo started to work together and found and developed a new sound that Jubël was formed. “Our sound is modern, organic with an electronic twist”, explains Victor. “We want to create unique dynamics and we can really do that with our different experiences and music background”. Victor adds that they write all the music together while Sebastian also sings.

The band experiences some great success with the single Illusion that was the soundtrack in a global HM campaign. But their big break came in the form of a cover of Dancing in the Moonlight, original recorded by King Harvest in 1972. To date Jubël's version has in excess of 100 million streams on Spotify and during the summer 2018 it was in the top 50 of Spotify in no fewer than five countries while in Sweden it was Spotify's top fifth most streamed track as well as being playlisted on both Swedish and international radio stations. - Spotify

I want Fall Out Boy to be back in the charts!

They'd have to actually release something for that

(I'm expecting them and Panic to return sometime this year)

I mean, honestly, I don't think much to Parasite Eve at all but it's quite a relief to have some ENERGY into the chart after Chris Brown and Ed Sheeran. Consider me AWAKE.
