Lauren Bousfield - Clean Strategic Narratives With Relatable Messaging Murder Them Violently

Composer and electronics mastermind (ccol but not my words) Lauren Bousfield provides the weirdness in UP 29. The song with the longass title in taken from the 2020 album, Palimpsest.

Yes, there is an album, with tracks similar to this one. Wow.

Iz~ does pretty well, by the way, currently 11th.

10 King Rollo

Archive - Lights

'Lights' is from the fifth studio album by British trip hop progressive and alternative group Archive - and yes, this is the longest song on the album. By far.

King Rollo does really well with his choice so far, sitting comfortably at number 5. Does Rollo have a hit on his hands or is it only a strong start?

9 Matthew Frederick - Laura Jones

8 Nathan Ball - Right Place

6 Gallant - Doesn't Matter

While Vandal Moon got some points too, Lawrence Rothman's 20 made the battle at the top a bit more exciting. Another Sky enters the top 10 for the first time, Solo Ansamblis reenters (I'm just winging it btw, feel free to double-check my 'facts' and correct me.)

Points :yahoo:

Good stuff from Iz, definitely delivering on the chaos of the song title x (yay another couple of points also xx)

thanks for the 20 cody!

Palimpsest is a unique moment of an album, very pleasing to listen to if you like industrial electronic nonsense like I do

Popchartfreak sent Edwina Biglet And The Miglets from 1972, so 'Thing' is easily the oldest song of the contest (says me, confidently, without checking).

Quite interestingly, I've just found a copy on ebay

'Thing' is 26th with 35 points, ready to crack the top 20.

Thanks for the reminder, doing it now (I had forgotten thought it was saturday oops!) :)

After John's votes only 35 points separate the top 8, but as it's UP, some 20s and 15s can still make a huge difference, it's still anyone's game, really.

Caveboy, one of the early favourites climbs to 14th and Gallant is top 25 for the first time.

Next in line: Harve

Good stuff from Iz, definitely delivering on the chaos of the song title x (yay another couple of points also xx)

I've realised there should be a '...Make Their Children Watch' added on to the end, never realised it because it's so hard to see long titles on Spotify, shame

Though 'Crawling Into A Fireplace Cackling' off the same album is ever so slightly better a title

John ending my drought in the best way possible, thank you so much  this is my highest scoring Unknown Pleasures entry ever already :o

'Hurt' is still in the lead, but after Lauren Bousfield receiving another 20 and reentering the top 10, the whole top 9 is within 36 points.

'Silk For Gold' keeps rising, now challenging the top 10.

Next in line: Brett-Butler

I've realised there should be a '...Make Their Children Watch' added on to the end, never realised it because it's so hard to see long titles on Spotify, shame

Ah I missed that too as it's left off the title on YouTube for some reason... (then again the word 'Messaging' is also misspelt in the title of the YT upload lol)

Edwina Biglet And The Miglets is the kind of thing that could really only be Popchartfreak! And I knew Max Cooper would probably be Harve too as I clocked from stalking his last.fm that he nearly sent Max to BJSC last month while shading my Max Cooper entry lel ~ Another v good song from him anyway and glad it's doing a bit better here than 'In Pursuit Of Ghosts' did for me in BJSC.

Ooh two 20s very quickly, I can still do this!! thank you harve

though a rather good top 5 at the moment so all's going fairly well

'Comin' In Hot' is back in the top 3 after a really long time and 'Silk For Gold' finally reaches the top 10. The top 6 is still within 25 points!

Next one: Jacob 😮

Kinda missed the first part lol, but thanks to Bre for 10 points and Chez Wombat for 5 points!! Here's to hoping not finishing in the last place XD

oh god you're not doing this to me again are you? :'( (Thanks Iz, great entry from yourself as well <3)

I knew the Max Cooper one already, I think it was recommended to me on YouTube a few months back, was another great entry from him!

Thing was...a thing for sure.

Listening to the plug session made me realise how normal "Laura Jones" sounded compared to the other songs entered. I think it's great, but it's been a much stronger contest than it has in a while, so probably deserve the bottom placing that's more than certainly coming my way.
