What a single! Such a bold and interesting return for Emma. Retro yet it felt fresh and different. I also loved the video - imagine if we ever got that in true 4K? *dreams* (really is a dream considering Universal never even bothered to officially upload a 480p version lol)

We need the single and album on international streaming pls
Great single. Not a sound I ever expected from Emma but it suited her voice so well.
It's my favourite Emma's album. She has very good chances for # 1 hit, when I will reach 2003 year in retrospective charts.

<_<

Revisited this album today (getting those Spotify streams in!) after being reminded of its greatness by the thread - such a solid pop album  Onto ‘Life In Mono’ next

"How I long to seduce you..."

Free Me was Emma's liberation from the "Baby Spice" moniker -- similar to XTina's Dirrty And BS' "Slave" -- only much classier. I remember the first time seeing the video here in Canada and thinking: EXCUSE ME!? :music: :yahoo:

I loved it instantly. And then Maybe came out and I saw so much potential for her to really forge a solid long-term solo career.

And then ... Life In Mono was like a thumb and index finger putting out a candle flame for me. :nono:

Oohh let us know what you think :cheer:

For me, Free Me and Life in Mono are the best solo Spice offerings. Free Me in particular is up there with the best pop albums ever in my opinion.

Life in Mono gets a lot of shite from the fans because 1) it isnt to everyone's taste and 2) it flopped on the charts = a double wammy of creating negative people's opinions on something.

LiM It is a gorgeous album, very Autumn-like and with stunning production, vocals and lyrics. A definite development in sound and artistry from our Emma, going from the 60s-inspired of Free Me to the 70s with class and more into that retro sound. I love it so much. The main problem with Life in Mono, in my opinion, was the promo and how it was handled which was pretty badly, by Simon and the XIX team.

3) Unlike its predecessor, only 50% of Life in Mono was co-written by Emma. It contained many covers.

XIX was established in 2010, four years after the album had been released.

Life in Mono has some nice moments and vocals. Its just lacking overall though.

I'd liken Free Me to a balloon being blown up. Life in the Mono the balloon being popped.

Free Me is an amazing album, but ultimately it didn't do much for her solo career in the long run. Not touring in the summer of 2004 was a huge mistake.

She should re-release it with b-sides and remixes.

I don’t see her releasing new music. She didn’t do anything to keep her fanbase active. She will always be Lazy Spice, for me. What a waste of potential.

So?... Yes Emma has done an abundance of covers. Life in Mono is still miles better than most of the rest of the solo works out there. And no, I do not count the last 3 'bonus tracks' on that album as technically they were part of a Delux version (we just never got the standard version :P ) The other two covers, Life in Mono and Downtown, were amazing.

And you know what I meant regarding XIX: Simon's record label and management team which was already managing Emma and co-released both Free Me and Life in Mono.

Her team just need to get it all on streaming properly. If the Spice Girls team can untangle Step to me and get it on streaming WW than Free Me can be done.

Me calling Universal offices HQ for the 15th time to get it on streaming and being told I'm gonna be arrested for harassment

If they have enough time to file those charges, then they have MORE than ample time to get LIM on streaming.

I have send so many email, and never received any feedback.
