November 3, 20205 yr Dizzee will likely fall. Disappointing sales for the top 2 albums its likely to be like this throughout Q4 unfort! I'm not so sure about that, Kylie and Little Mix are going to have massive sales! I'd be surprised if either of them opened with less than 50k.
November 3, 20205 yr omrimayo the head of the international flop music releases committee hath spoken. positions is officially certified... platinum flop :cheer:
November 3, 20205 yr Going back to Ariana: I don't think there's much sense comparing 'Positions' to 'Thank U, Next'. Personally, I felt a long time ago that TUN era is her peak era because of how massive it was. Most artists, even the biggest stars with decades-long careers tend to have this one era that is so successfull that it's simply impossible to beat it or replicate. And that doesn't mean they flop after that. They still have number one singles, platinum albums and so on. Just that one extremely massive era is bigger than anything else and happens once in a lifetime. And that's natural. So I knew that next Ariana album won't be as big as TUN before it was even announced that 'Positions' exist. Simply beacause I couldn't imagine a bigger era than 'Thank U, Next'. Maybe there were people who thought that 'Positions' will outsell 'Thank U, Next' but tbh I don't think there were many of them! So I don't think that comparing 'Positions' to TUN is a way to prove that it flopped. Because going with the same logic I can tell you all a fascinating story about Adele career-ending flop in 2015 when her album sold only 23 million copies which was less than what '21' did. Is your 12 times platinum album a flop beacause the previous one is 17 times platinum? And no, I'm not really Ariana fan or something. Have you heard of paragraphs! That was a chore to read.
November 3, 20205 yr of course you can compare Positions to Thank U Next, what else you wanna to compare it to? not to say it flopped, thats silly, but to say it's underperforming of course you can, it's pretty silly to say you cannot imho actually what you have to do is compare it to Thank U Next but put it into context same with Adele if you compare 21 and 25, you do the comparison but put it into context that's how you do. proper analysis Edited November 3, 20205 yr by Bjork

Done talking about her, no one will remember this era by the end of this year anyway. Edited November 3, 20205 yr by omrimayo

November 3, 20205 yr some of you guys have ALOT of spare energy for popstars you claim not to like...
November 3, 20205 yr some of you guys have ALOT of spare energy for popstars you claim not to like... By "some of you" I'm sure it's just me... and thanks, and I do like her, I'm allowed to hate this album and give my opinion about her sales.

November 3, 20205 yr By "some of you" I'm sure it's just me... and thanks, and I do like her, I'm allowed to hate this album and give my opinion about her sales. what a turnaround from "you have your opinion and I have facts". I would suggest that the delivery and attitude are the things that irk most people who replied to you, not the fact you dislike (or how you put it - "hate") the album. You trying to discredit this album by branding it a flop based on incomplete Monday midweeks won't change the fans' opinion. People like what they like and there's no point in arguing about semantics. Maybe you'll have more of a case on Friday evening after full sales are available and you'll get that validation you so desperately seem to seek here but I doubt it.
November 3, 20205 yr sorry, i should've put more PARAGRAPHS in my post people aren't capable of reading more than 2 lines of text these days xo
November 3, 20205 yr Returning briefly to the chart predictions - could the BBC 4 Notes song sneak into the Top 40? Looks to have exploded on iTunes

November 3, 20205 yr What I wanted to say is the fact that 'Positions' is not as big as 'Thank U, Next' is not really an argument to prove that it flopped/underperformed because it was never going to be as big. I disagree, it depends on how much worst it does. It's not the same having a drop of 10% in sales than having a 50% drop.
November 3, 20205 yr Returning briefly to the chart predictions - could the BBC 4 Notes song sneak into the Top 40? Looks to have exploded on iTunes Will be interesting to see if it has leapt up from its #71 Monday position today. The iTunes #2 is probably only doing about 3k per week and around 10k is needed for the 40, so it will need to beat everything manyes over and stay at that level for several days. It looks to be doing very well at the moment though.
November 3, 20205 yr Positions (the lead single) is not even in the same league as Thank u next... Thank u next was an infectious pop anthem with massive appeal, Positions sounds at best like a Janet Jackson B-Side from 1993.... so the comparison is unfair.... therefore the new album was never going to be as successful as the former....
November 3, 20205 yr The release rollout is completely different to 'thank u, next'. So they are uncomparable.
