If this does become a sizeable hit for her, it would be nice if she could get some real momentum going.

Tbh I don't really get the sense that she has much of a fanbase, her songs will probably just continue being hits if they get the playlist support / casual appeal and going unnoticed if not. If she didn't get proper 'momentum' from 'Sweet But Psycho' I don't see how she will from a much smaller hit.

Ooo I like it! I'm surprised he didn't use the 'Lalalala' bit. What really annoys me is those people who act as if samples only became a thing in 2020 like they haven't been a thing for decades already. Personally I love that she samples so much tbh. 'Born To The Night' as a single would really complete the collection.
^ Yeah it does make me laugh when some people are so snobby towards pop music sampling other songs, yet their favourite genre is rap. :')

but also think Ava Max shouldn't abuse it

I mean songwriters should be able to write their own melodies

I mean yeh I get that it might have become a little much, but when you've got flawless singles like 'Salt' and 'Naked' that don't take off with the general public, it's easy to see why she's sticking with this forumula for now until she get's her name out there more. At least she can say her biggest hit to date isn't a sample (even though it does sound remarkably like Jay Sean's 'Down' in places.). I'd expect the heavy sampling to end after this era and her to launch her sophomore era with more "original" material.

I have zero problems with Ava Max songs interpolating old songs. An inspired use of an old melody resulting in enjoyable bops? Keep them coming! I bet a huge chunk of her audience isn’t massively familiar with the songs she’s lifting from anyway.

There is a difference between interpolating and sampling by the way. Interpolation - re-recording an old melody to intentionally sound the same, but it’s new production. Sampling - literally taking from an old song and inserting it into a new recording (it can be modified to sound different i.e. pitch change).

I bet a huge chunk of her audience isn’t massively familiar with the songs she’s lifting from anyway.

If this is the case then f*** I feel old. :(

Isn't her next song also rumoured to sample Abba (not like the fake rumour that Torn supposedly sampled them)? So long as she keeps delivering good songs who cares whether they have samples or not.
Jason Derulo used to do it all the time and got away with it. Why can’t Ava?
I'm not sure the types on internet forums 'let' Jason Derulo get away with it but it's certainly brought him plenty of success repeatedly! Any sort of ABBA sample I'm excited for and Ava has proven she can do it well. Was it Lay All Your Love On Me that was rumoured? That sounds perfect for Ava.

I've been reading rumours on other forums that the label are thinking about scrapping the "Deluxe" and instead having 'My Head & My Heart' as the lead for her Sophomore.

I think it'd make a lot of sense since this era is already 3 years old and 'MH&MH' seems to be taking off in a big way. I'm imagining she has some quality leftover songs, songs that were intended for the 'Deluxe' plus songs she's recorded in the meantime. Doesn't she live with Cirkut? Guess they have to do something whilst the world is on lockdown.

However I'm torn (no pun intended) because I love the idea of having the 'Purgatory' themed "3rd disc" on 'Heaven & Hell' with 'Torn' and 'MH&MH' since they fit the theme so well, but if she can bring the same concept across to a new project then I'm here for it.

Ava benefits from her label instantly putting discounts on her single. any song discounted on USA iTunes are so bloody high!

'Born to the Night' as a single should have happened instead of 'Who's Laughing Now'. I'll never get my head around that.

for the last 4 months, My Head & My Heart has been track #1 on the streaming version of the album,

so it would be very bizarre if now My Head & My Head was the lead for album 2

the Heaven & Hell album has sold much yet, should be better to push that after the success off MH&MH,

so that finally the album can get some good sales (and they can buy more samples) :D

I wonder how far the album is from Silver in the UK, it had a moderately strong week at #2 and has been charting for 19 weeks now, except I feel like to get a top 100 album these days you literally need to sell 100 copies, so this could take years. I'm going to imagine that 'MH&MH' taking off could potentially help it return to the top 50 at least since most of it's charting weeks have been barely top 90.
