December 19, 20204 yr London enters Tier 4 tomorrow and millions will only be able to see family Christmas Day. As Sky News says, this is a disaster. People have booked train tickets to go home 27th, 28Tth,. 29th. Will they pay to amend them? Will people be fined for travelling after 25th. How the hell do you go home then. No trains on 25th.  Edited December 19, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 19, 20204 yr We went into Tier 3 at midnight today, we're now in Tier 4 tomorrow. Absolute hell
December 19, 20204 yr The new restrictions and cancellation of Christmas was badly needed though unfortunately. My dad work's in the NHS and they've had such a big increase in hospitlisations recently where he works. He said the hospital won't be able to cope if it continues. We're likely going to see another lockdown right after Christmas, as I'm sure many will ignore the rules and potentially spread the new variant of the virus around the country more. :( Edited December 19, 20204 yr by Envoirment
December 19, 20204 yr Most just won't take any notice anyway. If they've arranged people coming to stay, and bought in, ordered turkey, other food etc, they won't cancel it. I wouldn't. Edited December 19, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 19, 20204 yr What's the Tier 4 area below the red away from the rest of it? Peterborough, where I am
December 19, 20204 yr The new restrictions and cancellation of Christmas was badly needed though unfortunately. Not so near the time. They've messed people about and shouldn't have changed things so near. People have made arrangements now to visit, stay over etc.
December 19, 20204 yr Most just won't take any notice anyway. If they've arranged people coming to stay, and bought in, ordered turkey, other food etc, they won't cancel it. I wouldn't. I think people should seriously consider cancelling or scaling down their plans. It's just for one Christmas and it's better everyone makes it out of this period alive and able to celebrate the next one rather than max hospital capaicity and cause misery and more deaths both by Covid and indirectly through delayed treatments etc. If hospitals reach capacity, it'll become difficult to treat other things such as people who have heart attacks/strokes, are involved in traffic accidents, have falls etc.
December 19, 20204 yr Not so near the time. They've messed people about and shouldn't have changed things so near. People have made arrangements now to visit, stay over etc. Better late than never. It's a difficult position the government are in as much as I loathe them, especially with a new more transmissible strain of the virus become the more dominant strain in the South/SE. The hospitalisation numbers speak for themselves. If something isn't done now, we're f***ed.
December 19, 20204 yr So hearing a repeat of Boris, in the new Tier 4, no mixing of families at all, even Christmas Day. It will be a criminal act to travel in to or out of Tier 4 from tomorrow unless it's for deliveries or other work. No leisure journeys. They can't cancel trains because business people need them early next week. Will they fine others though? Edited December 19, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 19, 20204 yr Author If something isn't done now, we're f***ed. I think we are already fucked. Kent ICU starting to max out already.

A lot to waste.
December 19, 20204 yr Not so near the time. They've messed people about and shouldn't have changed things so near. People have made arrangements now to visit, stay over etc. It just sums up Johnson’s approach. He dithers over the difficult decisions until there is only one option left. By then, it inconveniences far more people than an earlier decision would have done and leaves other people scrabbling around to sort something out. See my earlier comments on schools.
December 19, 20204 yr I was clearly very wrong in my assumption that cases would have gone down significantly by now, purely as people would stop going to get tested to prevent them and people they've been in contact with isolating.

Yes he's getting roundly criticised, even by Tory MP's, for his "biggest U turn so far with Covid"
December 19, 20204 yr I think we are already fucked. Kent ICU starting to max out already. Yes, I've seen. :( It's honestly so disheartening. Especially having my dad on the frontline through the whole pandemic. I really hope he gets vaccinated ASAP.
