Omg I love both versions of 'Another Place' Alessia's voice does add something special to it!

I'm not sure if I've heard the non-Alessia version but her voice does sound great in this! Thanks Jordan :D

Cry Dancing  definitely one of my favourite NOTD songs (although HRVY's is the supreme x), and it's been so good hearing Nina lend herself to more dance collaborations!

Has HRVY done a song with every dance producer in Europe?! Glad you're a fan of Cry Dancing though, it is a tune - thanks Calum!

Kicking off the Top 40 we have a collaboration between two acts who have managed a UK Top 40 hit this year, however neither were good enough to make my Personal Chart. This, on the other hand, is VERY good, quite a subdued dance track with a nice little beat and great vocals from Mr. Dapperton.

Time for the highest entry from Alec Benjamin (it still surprises me every time I see his face compared to his voice) with his highest-charting single to date and the only one to make my Top 10. This is a brilliant song about...well how he's stuck inside his mind. The lyrics are great even if I've never really looked into the bigger metaphor of the song.

When I saif this was the highest appearing BJSC single I was unfortunately telling a little white lie (by complete accident) there are still two to come, although I hadn't sent one of them when this thread went up! After quite a lot of DNQs in a row, I really wanted to find something that would actually do well, cue me searching for random bands on YouTube and sticking the word 'remix' afterwards. When I got to 'Boston Manor' in my list, I struck lucky with one of the few times I absolutely KNEW this would smash. I was obsessed with it as soon as I heard it, although annoyingly I had to wait almost a month between finding it and it being in the semis after various delays, but it was worth the wait as I got my first Top 10 since 2018. It also had the side-effect of bringing Boston Manor some much-needed relevance again in my chart, although it didn't hast long with their new single missing the Top 40.

He missed my EOY Top 100 with Good Vibes but he does make it in with this meaning my Matoma chart history hasn't gone to waste :magic: Here he's collaborating with two unknowns to me, the first being Petey which was a nickname my parents gave me as a child, and the second being Wilder Woods, who I'm literally just finding out now is the lead singer of NEEDTOBREATHE who still have a song to come in this countdown :o Well, you learn something new every day. And that sort-of ruins the fact I was going to give, which was that I mis-typed the name as 'Winder Woods' for the first month of the chart history meaning my EOY-counting formula ended up putting this one in twice so I had to mess with it to give it a decent score. It is a fab dance song though which helped me get through the winter!

Finishing off this section we have Dutch band Kensington, who have really come into their own this year after first charting in 2016 with their Armin feature. This is their first of two appearances here but it really is a brilliant song in its own right, building up throughout the song to a brilliant climax. Once again I'm not entirely sure what it's about, I think it's about wanting to be alone but don't take my word on that!

Glad to see another fan of it here - thanks Jafet!

Mind is a Prison has cemented itself as one of my favourite Alec songs, it's what he does best!

I just listened to the Bastille/Alessia Cara song because that sounded like such a random combination of artists.

It's probably my favourite of the ones I've checked out from your countdown so far. Alessia sounds really nice on it :)

This hasn't held up for me too well sadly but when I first heard it it was a real revelation for me. Apparently the lyrics are related to the film 'The Kids Are Alright' but I don't have a clue what that's about so I just choose to enjoy the song for what it is, and it really was right up there for me a couple of months ago! Also one of the best things to come from Spotify's Discover Weekly.

Next up is the second-lowest #1 in my countdown, and the second-highest Eurovision track. This was the first year I heard the songs before the actual (or lack of) contest, and this one stuck out immediately, blending a soft dance beat with guitars and bizarre-as-ever lyrics. This did mean that it dropped off a bit quicker however, and I'm still waiting to hear what else The Roop have to offer! (or indeed much about them at all)

On to another song which I discovered month before someone sent it to BJSC and it DNQd. On first listen it does sound quite throwaway-pop-py, but for me it just kept growing and growing and eventually managed to push through all the Eurovision to get a Top 10 peak in my chart. It's also his highest-ever EOY appearance for Blanks, beating #50 for 'Let's Get Lost' last year.

Speaking of BJSC, Ball Park Music still have a song left to come but here is their follow-up to that. It did absolutely nothing for me on first listen but grew almost immediately, the first three minutes or so being a beautifully soft and emotional piece before building up at the end to a guitar-heavy climax. It's not the cheerieest of songs but it certainly cemented Ball Park Music as one to watch for me!

I saw Marsicans live at Elland Road for the big Leeds United/Kaiser Chiefs concert, then promptly forgot about them until this came out. This piqued my interest straight away though, a brilliant rock track which may or may not be lockdown-themed (can't say I've paid enough attention to the lyrics) but 'I don't wanna go outside these days' certainly resounds with a lot of us during this period of time!

Hey Pete :hi:

My favourites since I last commented in here would have to be:

- To Be Loved ~ I'm a huge fan of AURORA's voice! Lovely song, I like that her featured credentials range from this to being on a Chemical Brothers song *.*

- Level of Concern ~ Can't go wrong with Twenty One Pilots! Eagerly anticipating their next album ^_^

- Time ~ One of many strong songs released by Jack last year! He deserves a lot more success.

- Perfectly Untrue ~ Really punchy chorus - I was so pleased that this got sent to BJSC!

- A Ghost ~ Love the instrumentation on this one! Rare guitar representation on my Halloween playlist

Great stuff ^_^

The first Saint Motel song I've really paid attention to since... erm... My Type? This was very unlucky to not be a #1 debut, being one of three songs which would have been a #1 anmy of the weeks leading up to this one, and which were all knocked down by Declan the week after this one. Certainly a brilliant re-introduction to themthough, and of course a good song does indeed never die ;)

Up until the release of this song, Glass Animals were in my head as this bizarre experimental-y bnd who played lots of bizarre instruments that didn't really go well together. This song changed my view on them (or at least partially, their album still contains some bizarreness). A proper chilled-out earworm of a track with a fab riff and syncopated drums that just make you want to dance along. They're now making inroads in the chart with Heat Waves but this is the track for me!
