Hi Rob, well 2 of my chart-toppers right off the bat with Kylie & Doja Cat in there. Nena's looking good for 60! I'd also go for the floppy fringe look if I could grow one  Ella Henderson was a goodie, and I havent heard those 2 Taylor/Miley tracks, tut tut!

Think About Things was robbed of a Eurovision win! It's great. Dua Lipa is fab, and oh my such a lot of Swifty! I must check out the albums one day....!

Overcoats was a great tune, should have done better for Jordan in BJSC! Agnes was a goodie, Tate McRae quite nice but didn't chart for me, one of my top tracks of the year with Levitating in there, the moment I heard it (and this was pretty much love at first hearing) it was a case of "why wasn't this the lead single!" moment for me. Husavik was such fun, as was the film, and a Mishcatt track I missed there too, shame!

Lots of class in there! :cheer:

70-61

70. Ella Henderson - Dream On Me

69. Lucia & The Best Boys - Perfectly Untrue

68. Minuit Machine - Don't Run From The Fire

67. Everglow - La Di Da

66. Gerry Cinnamon - Where We Going?

65. Kelly Clarkson - I Dare You

64. Kim Petras - Malibu

63. HAARM – Better Friend

62. Becky Hill Ft Shift K3Y - Better Off Without You

61. Ava Max - My Heart and Heart

We return to the second single to come from Ella Henderson and this time she hooks up with dance icon Roger Sanchez to sample his anthem 'Another Chance' for 'Dream On Me', quite a clever use I think and the song deserved to do something in the charts. Lots of songs have gone unnoticed that could have been chart hits this year. More BJSC entries show up from Lucia and The Best Boys, Minuit Machine and BJSC 129 winners Everglow. All sublime entries which were all entered to the same contest and all came top 10 as well and richly deserved I thought. A little bit of indie next with Gerry Cinnamon who scraped a low top 40 placing officially in the first half of the year, 'Where We Going' is at 66 whilst Kim Petras's sizzling spring bop 'Malibu' is in at number 64. Kelly Clarkson's in the middle of them with her country pop sounding 'I Dare You' at 65. Another Rolloland entry pops up next at 63 with HAARM's 'Better Friend'. A really intense song about a member of the band's friends suicide. 62 is Becky Hill with 'Better Off Without You' and the latest offering from Ava Max with club sounding tune 'My Head and Heart' coming in 61st which hopefully will take off next year.. MAYBE. We'll see.

ooh yay for Afterglow making it for you, and Wetlands!

Dream On Me, Better Off Without You are my faves of that latest section.

60. Keith Urban Ft Pink - One Too Many

59. Miley Cyrus Ft Billy Idol- Night Crawling

58. BTS - Dynamite

57. Billie Eilish - Therefore I Am

56. Gabby Barrett - I Hope

55. Billie Eilish - No Time To Die

54. The Veronicas - Bite My Tongue

53. De Grandi - Paris Nord-Est

52. ILLENIUM - Nightlight

51. Jessie Frye - Ocean

Into the last section before the top 50 and at 60 we have Pink's only contribution to music in 2020 coming in the form of 'One Too Many' a duet with country singer Keith Urban who in the process scored his first (just about) top 40 placing in the UK after being around the business for a LONG time. The best non single track on Miley's album 'Night Crawling' featuring 80's icon Billy Idol is in 59th. K-Pop makes another appearance at 58 with BTS and their funky number 'Dynamite. Gabby Barrett another country star whose song is blowing up in the States and maybe here soon 'I Hope' is sandwhiched between two Billie Eilish songs.. the newie 'Therefore I Am' 57 & 'No Time To Die' 55. The latter of which was of course the soundtrack to the newest Bond release which has been postponed till further notice cause of the obvious reason again. Australian duo The Veronicas are next at 54 with 'Biting My Tongue'. Three more fantastic BJSC Entries fill up the other positions in De Grandi, ILLENIUM and Jessie Frye respectively. The latter was on my potentials list with another song which is still to come!

I'm usually not into the instrumental entries in BJSC but Paris Nord-Est was too good to ignore, really stunning!

As for the chart music, Better Off Without You was a big fave  I like both Billie Eilish singles too (although I prefer My Future, not sure if that's gonna appear ), hopefully No Time To Die will be remembered on its own merit and not just for the film being delayed so many times.

Hey Rob! My favourites to appear in the top 100 so far:

99. Miley Cyrus - Angels Like You

98. Kylie Minogue - Say Something

97. Doja Cat - Say So

96. BRONSON – HEART ATTACK (feat. lau.ra)

55. Billie Eilish - No Time To Die

53. De Grandi - Paris Nord-Est

So much goodness :cheeseblock: 'positions', 'gold rush' and 'Fingers Crossed' all hit #1 in my personal chart - love that the latter has made it here in particular!

Perfectly Untrue is a brilliant song, one of my favourite discoveries from BJSC this year, I was delighted it did so well in the contest itself. Dream On Me and Better Friend both made chart impacts for me this year as well (although the latter first charted for me a couple of years back) and the Billie songs were both decent too.

Hey John. Oh nice yeah she absolutely does. Oh wow what, you need to hear them. Both huge standouts from their albums (although Taylors I haven't even got halfway through yet - evermore that is. Yep it would have made a good winner but these things can't be helped unfortunately. Glad you like so many and I'm surprised you say you hadn't heard the Mishcatt song as it was in BJSC a few months ago :o

Thanks!

Indeed both are stunning. Dream On Me deserved to do something :(

Thanks Dan!

I'mg gad you were won over by a instrumental. It is a rare sight for you tbh I must say :P

Nope 'My Future' isn't in this as I didn't care for it and was baffled as to why she released it. Sounded like the sort of song that'd be low top 40 in 2004 for one week haha. I guess if it wasn't pushed as a single and was just a album track only I'd not mind it.

Thanks Jade. Yeah as mentioned already 'Fingers Crossed' wasn't instant but did grow on me. Nothing on the level of the AMAZING 'Release Me' though.

Same here and it was great to see John get a hit with something recent too. Ah I see. I suppose you were on the ball with 'Better Friend' for a while then :P yup both great songs by Billie!

Thanks Pete.

Top 50 will commence soon (not today) 😍

50-41

50. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

49. Joel Corry - Head and Heart

48. Sheppard - Die Young

47. Zara Larrson - Love Me Land

46. Zara Larrson - All The Time

45. Kent - Då Som Nu För Alltid

44. joan – Love Me Better

43. The Killers - Caution

42. Topic - Breaking Me

41. Quixotic - Schwarzenegger

Released at the end of 2019 and crossing over to become an long running hit (25 Weeks top 10 whilst avoiding ACR, the consistency *.*) , Dua's disco bop 'Don't Start Now' starts the top 50 off at number 50. One of the biggest hits of 2020 and the song that defined the summer especially is 'Head and Heart' by DJ Joel Corry and he joined forces with MNEK to create this banger. It's also worth pointing out that this is the first song I've ever liked by BOTH artists as I never cared for anything of MNEK's.. not even the Zara collab. BJSC 127 winners Sheppard make their presence known with 'Die Young' at 48. From the title alone I was expecting something more intense and subtle but to my amazement this was actually an extremely fun and catchy song. They haven't quite done as well position wise on my EOY chart in comparison to huge sounding 'Geronimo' which we remember had what felt like a billion pushes to try and make happen in the chart :') Double Zara next with 'Love Me Land' holding fort at 47 whilst her song from 2019 'All The Time' is 46. The latter I hadn't even heard in 2019 but thanks to Jonjo and Lee in the Facebook group telling me to listen and vote for it as part of the AF contests on the forum it turned out to be something I didn't regret and I like Zara too and this was extremely good. One of Zara's strongest for sure. At 45 and 44 we see more BJSC entries arrive in the form of Kent a Swedish alternative band with them marching down streets banging steel drums as part of some protest which is quite fitting for said times right now in America AND a potential for me in BJSC a year or so earlier too. The fact it didn't even qualify was unacceptable  The song was released as part of their final album in 2016. Normally the song wouldn't be eligible but due to exceptional reasons ie discoveries made in the year 2020 it's allowed in. joan a musical duo sent by Harry in the middle of year with the bop 'Love Me Better'. The song and video is very reminiscent of early 90's boybands like East 17 and New Kids On The Block. A pleasant surprise may I add as I wasn't expecting to like quite as much as I should have. The Killers burst back onto the scene with new material even though MB seems to have the habit of overshadowing anything else they've put out lol. 'Caution' a stormer of a comeback song lands at 43. Finally two more BJSC entries here, one that also became a HUGE hit in the official charts and the other being centered around a legendary actor. Topic's 'Breaking Me' is number 42 and was entered by Mack in the first contest of 2020 and was one I threw some points to so it's very nice to see it take off as much as it did and I'm sure he's amazed at sending a song that would in turn, turn into a hit too. It's super catchy even if I did get a bit tired of it later down the line but I still like it. 'Schwarzenegger' just misses the top 40 but what an absolute epic instrumental this was. Wow. It received my 18 points in the final and whilst it was just outside the top 10 in that contest, it did extremely well and was richly deserved and was very much alike to my entry 'Turbo Killer' from a few years back!

Love Me Better was one of those songs I only gave a couple of points to in BJSC but it grew on me massively after the contest, incredibly catchy. Die Young, Schwarzenegger and Breaking Me were all fab discoveries from BJSC as well, and Head and Heart was probably my favourite #1 of last year, brilliant song!

Yeah they are all great. Thanks Pete. I'm going to continue with this tomorrow. In the mean time 4 BJSC entries of ours are contenders for #1. Wonder which they'll be

40-31

40. Night Club - Gossip

39. Halsey - You Should Be Sad

38. 24KGLDN Ft Iann Dior - Mood

37. Cream Soda & HLEB - Plachu Na Tekhno

36. Smith and Thell - Goliath

35. Jessie Frye - The One

34. Miley Cyrus Ft Dua Lipa - Prisoner

33. Randy Domingues - Warrior

32. Negative Gemini - Rollercoaster

31. The Weeknd - In Your Eyes

Time for the first of two appearances for Night Club, an America synth pop duo who made their debut 8 years ago and their most recent release 'Gossip' ironically released round Halloween was sent by me to the Buzzjack Spinoff and finished top 20 there. It finishes at 40 here which is rather respectable I think. Halsey's 'You Should Be Sad' is at number 39, it's a lovely pop song with slight country aspects to it and is written about an ex. We have another UK #1 show up at 38 in the form of 'Mood' by 24kGLDN, lest be said I wasn't a huge fan of COA and it just continued to grate the more I heard it whereas this one was way more accessible and instant from word go. Couple more BJSC entries pop up at no.s 37 & 36 respectively, THE bjsc 122 winner Smith and Thell with the Avicii sounding 'Goliath'. A monster of a tune and Cream Soda's 'Plachu Na Tekhno', a rave bop. Cor lupus sent Jessie Frye to BJSC a few months ago with the other song which has already appeared but 'The One' was a potential of mine back in the summer and is accompanied by the carefree car drive video. Miley Cyrus has seemingly found this rock sound which is working out for her and feels more natural if I'm being honest... she added to that with a fab collab with Pop girl of the moment Dua Lipa. I Wanna Get Physi... 'Prisoner' is number 34. A Summericia entry in the form of 'Warrior' by Randy Domingues is next at 33, an incredible instrumental from 2016 that has managed to be allowed under exceptional rules. Another Persephonia entry at 32 in the form of Negative Gemini with 'Rollercoaster' and The Weeknd's 'In Your Eyes' at 31 round out this section. Both super strong tracks!

Hi Rob, favourites since I last commented:

50. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

49. Joel Corry - Head and Heart

47. Zara Larrson - Love Me Land

46. Zara Larrson - All The Time

43. The Killers - Caution

40. Night Club - Gossip

37. Cream Soda & HLEB - Plachu Na Tekhno

34. Miley Cyrus Ft Dua Lipa - Prisoner

32. Negative Gemini - Rollercoaster

31. The Weeknd - In Your Eyes

^ book-ending those with synthtastic songs from Dua and The Weeknd, adoring that 80s resurgence *.* both of those Zara songs are great shouts - two of my favourites of hers for sure, both deserved much better success :( glad you were poked into listening to 'All The Time' eventually

I don't really think I remember Rollercoater whoops! (sorry Bré if you ever look in here). It sounds okay hearing it again now though. In Your Eyes is one of the best songs to have troubled the Official Charts this year though so really glad that's high up here, and Goliath was a decent BJSC entry as well.

Oh I am looking Pete. Don't think I don't see the shade!!!

Yay for Negative Gemini appearing here! Makes up for it being one of the only Persephonia entries that won't be in my own EOY countdown (which I will start one of these days) :kink: though that's not because I don't love it ofc, just that it's a song I had been sitting on for quite a while before actually sending it so it naturally had less longevity in my chart when it finally had its moment as it wasn't as fresh to me as most of my entries. A belated yay for Minuit Machine appearing too (they will very much be in my own countdown).

As with most other EOYs I've been following this but not commenting :magic:

Yeah they are both really strong songs by her. If only they kept her relevance up just a bit longer. Thanks Jade!

Lol I'm like that a lot tbh. It was the same with Kungs a few years back. Zoomed past me somehow in the contest and then it went to #1 officially. Some songs do fly by unnoticed in these things.

Lol. I did see 'Rollercoaster' miss out in your thread. Tbh the witch house song didn't even make my bunch of songs missing out lol so u guess we are sorta even. Hopefully very high for DRFTF!! It was a huge grower as I mentioned before but then again the majority of BJSC songs are growers to be fair.

Reading and not commenting is also fine. Brings in the views after all :magic:

30-21

30. Lady Gaga Ft Elton John - Sine From Above

29. Lady Gaga - Fun Tonight

28. Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar

27. Lady Gaga - Babylon

26. JUICE WRLD and Marshmello - Come and Go

25. Ava Max - Kings and Queens

24. The Ella Sisters - Cars

23. Elliot Lee - Pink (Freak)

22. Lady Gaga - Stupid Love

21. Night Club - Dear Enemy

Catching up with the next section and kickstarting us is a lady who grabbed back her relevancy in 2020 and that lady is... Lady GaGa who returned to electro pop roots to bring us a whole album full of bangers after a couple of disappointing era's (not including ASIB). GaGa teamed up with the legend Elton John on 'Sine From Above' which was very cleverly done considering how different both artists are with their own material. You could tell she made a huge impression on my chart as 'Fun Tonight' follows suits at 29 and 'Babylon' is also 27. That's three appearances for album tracks of Chromatica in just a few positions really. Harry Styles finds himself in the middle of GaGa (not in that way lol) with 'Watermelon Sugar' at 28. Late rapper JUICE WRLD had several posthumous entries in the charts in 2020 and only one caught my attention and that was 'Come and Go' remixed up with American DJ Marshmello.. this was a surprisingly catchy number which speaks for itself when it's the only thing I've actually liked of his, just a shame he's not around to see further success really. Ava Max returned with the pop banger that was 'Kings & Queens', to the surprise of many who wrote her off (or wanted her written off for good, looking at Lee). It's a song about feminism so was going to get a little bit of an uproar from some people I guess but I enjoy the song regardless and see it for what it is.. fun. Two sisters now and they are unknown to the masses but in the summer I came across The Ella Sisters with the song 'Cars', a solid pop song and was one of my most played on Spotify. Time for some JUSTICE now and here we have American singer Elliot Lee with her indie pop tune 'Pink' (Freak) which was rudely denied a chance to get through to the BJSC final in October, granted it was 21st but still I was surprised not more people liked it enough to vote as it was one I thought for sure would finish on the top 20 side. Following this it was up for grabs in TBO which it did qualify in one round but failed the 2nd after getting the lowest votes excluding deductions... <_< taste was not served at all, deserved far better.. oh well it gets some positive result here though as it finishes at a promising 23rd on my end of year. Lead single from Chromatica 'Stupid Love' drops out next at 22 for Lady GaGa. This is 4th her entry in the 30-21 group, super dominant and she's got a couple more still to come. Rounding up with the second Night Club entry to arrive and it's 2016's 'Dear Enemy', the weird video where Emily is dressed up like she's starring in some BDSM scene. The duo had been on my radar for a while now and it's safe to say their other tracks are just as kooky.
