261 Taylor Swift - willow | 17-x

262 Ava Max - OMG What's Happening | 28-32-13-19-33-x

263 New Hope Club & R3HAB - Let Me Down Slow | 16-32-x

264 The Kid LAROI - ERASE U | 38-x

265 AJ Mitchell - Burn | 13-31-x

266 Melanie C - Overload | 24-x

267 The Kid LAROI feat. Corbin - NOT FAIR | 40-x

268 Meghan Trainor - Make You Dance | 18-x

269 Steps - Something in Your Eyes | 32-20-32-x

270 BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez - Ice Cream | 28-x-17-29-x

I'm seemingly in the minority who preferred Ice Cream to How You Like That, but the second single from BLACKPINK's album was a definite earworm, even if it's one of my least favourite Selena singles in a while. Steps achieved their biggest hit in my chart yet with the pop anthem Something in Your Eyes, and another pop anthem from Ava Max features further up in the form of promo single OMG What's Happening. Meghan Trainor makes appearance one of two with Make You Dance, as does AJ Mitchell with his most recent single Burn. We have yet more R3HAB already, with 3 of his 4 songs already out, as New Hope Club collaboration Let Me Down Slow is their lowest track. Melanie C's promotional single Overload slides in, as does a surprisingly poorly performing Taylor Swift lead in the form of willow (which is growing on me now - perhaps it'll be allowed in next year if it manages to improve on its chart run?). Finally, we meet the first two of 20 songs (!!!!) from The Kid LAROI, with album tracks NOT FAIR and ERASE U being his first to go.

Hey Joseph!!

'willow' took a couple of listens to click which is rare for Taylor tracks with me. Also nice to see Kelly, Ava & Zara/Kygo from these bunch. I don't recall that Freya song though. I may have heard it once I can't remember how it goes

251 Kim Petras - Malibu | 13-20-35-x

252 AJ Tracey & Mabel - West Ten | 20-26-34-32-x

253 Donna Missal - Let You Let Me Down | 18-30-x

254 Victor Leksell - Bedövning | 15-x

255 Alec Benjamin - I'm Not a Cynic | 18-40-x

256 Dotter - Backfire | 17-21-x

257 Ella Henderson - Take Care of You | 28-20-29-x

258 Katy Perry - Smile | 17-27-20-x

259 Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go | 13-21-31-x

260 morgxn - I'm Just Wild About Harry | 12-35-x

Scoring his debut hit (and only hit so far), morgxn's cover of I'm Just Wild About Harry soared my chart after I watched Freeform's film The Thing About Harry near the start of 2020 - still a gorgeous version and well placed in the film! Lewis Capaldi's chart history has been up and down but Before You Go became his highest charting track since #7 hit Someone You Loved in the first week of 2020, while Ella Henderson scored her biggest hit since 2015 with Take Care of You. At the other end of the spectrum, Katy Perry's Smile was an underperformance by her standards - her lowest charting single as a lead artist since my chart began. We see the first of two tracks for Dotter, Donna Missal and Victor Leksell all pop up here, while the first of three AJ Tracey top 20 hits drops out in the form of Mabel collaboration West Ten. The first track from Alec Benjamin's These Two Windows also finishes here at #255, and Kim Petras' first hit as a lead artist just misses the top 250.

241 Jax Jones & Au/Ra - i miss u | 14-21-25-34-x

242 5 Seconds of Summer - No Shame | 14-24-x-34-27-34-x

243 jens - A Place to Call Home | 15-18-34-x

244 Reed Deming - Second Life | 12-39-x-23-x

245 Annie - The Streets Where I Belong | 20-19-31-x

246 Anson Seabra - Emerald Eyes | 28-15-22-x

247 The Mamas - Move | 19-21-15-26-x

248 Carrie Underwood & John Legend - Hallelujah | 14-19-12-x

249 Alec Benjamin - Alamo | 15-36-x

250 Headie One feat. AJ Tracey & Stormzy - Ain't It Different | 20-19-24-x

One of the more unexpected hits in my chart, Headie One actually scored two top 20 hits in 2020 and Ain't It Different provided his first hit in his own right. Stormzy and AJ Tracey both added another top 20 to their tallies too, though poor AJ has four top 20s in total now and no top 10s...! Another Alec album track departs here, just below Carrie Underwood's Christmas single Hallelujah - not a cover, I should specify! The Mamas depart with their Melfest winner, which I expected would make a big comeback with a new peak upon Eurovision season but it was somewhat robbed of that moment...! Anson Seabra, Annie and Reed Deming pop up for their first appearances of two, followed by a jens track from the MOOMINVALLEY 2 soundtrack and the highest 5SOS track in the form of No Shame - which does not seem like a 2020 song! Jax Jones closes the section with another top 20 under his belt after This Is Real scraped top 40 and Tequila didn't chart at all. A return to form but I think he can do even better!

9 Powfu

A year ago, I'd never heard of Powfu, real name Isaiah Faber. Like I assume most people on Buzzjack, I heard of him when his track death bed began to blow up in the charts thanks to TikTok. The track left little impression on me at first but quickly began to grow, with help from the inspired beabadoobee sample and simplistic yet emotional lyrics. Even then, though, I expected Powfu to be a one hit wonder in my chart, but he scored a second hit not too long after with ill come back to you, a track with friends and frequent collaborators Sarcastic Sounds and Rxseboy. A stream of top 10s followed - 17again, stay4ever and collaborations Eyes Blue Like the Atlantic, Pt. 2 and Some Nights. Powfu's ability so switch between honest, realistic rapping and heartfelt singing has resonated with me this past year, and it's shown across the two EPs he released too. I hope he can achieve a second chart hit one day...!

Loads of brilliant songs so far Joseph

Living Proof, How You Like That, Ice Cream, Willow & the 2 AJ Tracey tracks are my absolute faves.

Playing The Streets Where I Belong now, I'm really enjoying it! Has a lovely vibe to it, might add it to my playlist actually.

i miss u, Backfire and Move are others I recognise from the recent sets, death bed was a fab track from Pwofu although can't say I've heard much else from him (other than maybe a few songs from other people's Personal Charts)

Thank you both very much!!

The Streets Where I Belong is lush, I'd recommend checking out even just a few songs from her album if you like that, Pete!

Me to you and your countdown seeing Let Me Down Slow this far down

Haha I thought the same when I saw the placement

231 The Kid LAROI - RUNNING | 23-x

232 The Kid LAROI - PIKACHU | 17-16-x

233 Alex Järvi - Lost Boy | 35-26-18-28-x

234 Anne-Marie feat. Doja Cat - To Be Young | 4-12-26-32-x

235 Taylor Swift - cardigan | 10-24-28-40-x

236 Mariah Carey - Sleigh Ride | 22-9-x

237 Alexander Stewart - Compare Myself | 12-27-30-39-x

238 Lennon Stella feat. Charlie Puth - Summer Feelings | 25-21-19-22-32-x

239 Elley Duhé - LOVE ME HARD | 14-16-32-x

240 Jubël - Blue Jeans | 14-12-14-33-x

Most famous for their Dancing in the Moonlight cover, which is still to come in my countdown, duo Jubël actually scored a second hit with Blue Jeans in my chart, just missing the top 10 for a few weeks. Elley Duhé scored her highest charting hit as a lead artist yet in 2020 with LOVE ME HARD, and Lennon Stella nabbed a second top 20 with some help from Charlie Puth for Summer Feelings, a track which proved to be quite the grower. Having a quieter year than 2019, Alexander Stewart only released one single in 2020 and Compare Myself got unlucky to miss my top 10, and although Alex Järvi's Lost Boy didn't peak anywhere near the top tier, it proved to be another grower that would've been worthy of a higher peak. We also lose our first three top 10s in this section, the lowest being Mariah Carey's Sleigh Ride, a short-lived hit because of the time of year, but we'll see Mariah again later. I've already said how Taylor's recent eras haven't quite clicked with me in the way they usually do and cardigan's proof of that, but it's a lovely track regardless. We also lose Anne-Marie's To Be Young, a track I had high hopes for but it fell flat sadly, I enjoy it but Doja Cat actually lets it down, rather than uplifting it like on other features (with Bebe Rexha, The Weeknd and Saweetie for example). At the top of the section are two more of The Kid LAROI's album tracks, one from the original album and one from the SAVAGE re-issue!

221 Melanie C - Good Enough | 19-33-x

222 Declan McKenna - Beautiful Faces | 10-27-x

223 Alexandru - Pink Jacket | 9-13-23-40-x

224 Bishara - R U 4 Real | 9-20-36-x

225 Martin Jensen & RANI - At Least I Had Fun | 15-13-16-34-x

226 Alex Järvi - SHIT | 12-31-x

227 Johnny Orlando - Phobias | 10-18-31-x

228 Ellie Goulding - Power | 9-17-27-38-x

229 Louis Tomlinson - Walls | 36-22-17-36-x

230 Conan Gray - The Story | 13-39-x

The top 10 hits start to fall out more rapidly from now on, including Ellie Goulding's highest charting hit of the year and Swedish teenager Bishara's third total top 10, following two in 2019. Declan McKenna's Beautiful Faces had a surprisingly brief run - it deserved better for sure though it's still lower down my list of the best top 10 hits of the year. Nonetheless, it's his first of three songs to appear. Alexandru shredded his one hit wonder status following 2017's Sellotape with last year's Pink Jacket, an unsuccessful Eurovision contender for Norway. Johnny Orlando scored his first top 10 hit at last with Phobias, which drops out at #227. Away from the top 10 hits, we have Conan Gray's first appearance with his album closer, a Melanie C banger of an album track, Louis Tomlinson's album title track (his only appearance of the year) and Martin Jensen's collaboration with RANI for the basic but enjoyable At Least I Had Fun. Finally, Sweden's Alex Järvi's top track is the interestingly titled SHIT - a track in Swedish where the only English lyric is "oh shit." It's better than you'd expect...!

211 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia | 12-14-10-20-23-x

212 The Kid LAROI - MAYBE | 30-x

213 Gwen Stefani - Let Me Reintroduce Myself | 13-10-27-28-…

214 Franke - down for no reason | 13-28-x

215 Surf Mesa feat. Emilee - ily (i love you baby) | 38-25-12-16-21-24-38-x

216 Demi Lovato - I Love Me | 10-19-32-x

217 Casey Lowry - drunk at home (the quarantine song) | 10-16-33-x

218 Boy In Space - Forever Young | 8-20-38-x

219 AJ Tracey feat. MoStack - Dinner Guest | 19-25-29-39-x

220 Ava Max - Kings & Queens | 23-22-31-38-35-x

The highest two tracks not to make my top 20 feature in this section, starting off with Ava Max's Kings & Queens, her second highest track this year. The Kid LAROI claims the honour though, with MAYBE only spending one week in the top 40 at #30, but the continued impact of the album sees it as high as #212. Every song left is a top 20 hit, though even the non top 10s are beginning to dry up now. AJ Tracey's highest of three features here in the form of lockdown anthem Dinner Guest, and Surf Mesa's chilled ily (i love you baby) is four spots higher at #215, unlucky to have missed my top 10 with a pretty strong run there. Newcomer Franke still only has one hit to his name, but down for no reason puts up a relatively strong showing at #214, outdoing a selection of top 10s that also feature in this section. We lose our first Boy In Space song, with Forever Young comfortably the lowest of them all - a lovely cover but one of his least essential tracks. Casey Lowry's honest lockdown bop is one spot higher, followed by Demi Lovato's fun but misguided lead single I Love Me. Gwen Stefani notched a second top 10 hit with Let Me Reintroduce Myself in December, while at the other end of the spectrum, Dua Lipa's album title track also nabbed a top 10 spot all the way back in January.

8 Dua Lipa

My hype levels for Dua Lipa's second era were sky high after how much I enjoyed her album. It was a strong, cohesive debut but I knew she'd be capable of better, but whether the potential would be realised was another concern. Thankfully, Dua immediately set the tone with Don't Start Now at the end of 2019 alongside the album's title Future Nostalgia. It felt as if Dua had a clear theme carved out from the start, and that's something so few albums seem to manage these days. Dua kicked 2020 off with Physical, her highly acclaimed single which is absolutely worthy of being called one of her best tracks, though personally it's not my absolute top fave (I'd place it in her top 3!). The album followed and it was just as tight as I'd hoped. Almost every track on there is very strong and most of them are single-worthy, with only Good In Bed letting the side down. It's remarkable that 5 singles in, Dua could still easily pluck another couple of singles off the album! My favourite Dua single of the year, and overall actually, was Levitating. After the disappointment of the Blessed Madonna remix (we'll ignore that), Dua released the single mix featuring a fun rap with DaBaby that slots in seamlessly. Dua's second era couldn't have gone more perfectly, and it seems it's still not over...!

Shame that 'I Love Me' was a bit of a misfire for Demi...I think she could've had a massive year if she'd started out with something different.

Loving the relative longevity for 'ily' *.* However, that's not a very popping-champagne-worthy chart run for 'Kings & Queens' :(
