Do we know where Confetti is?

#10

Why are album sales so low these days?

They're usually low in January following Christmas but they're especially low due to lockdown.

People don’t listen to albums, they listen to playlists.

Is No Time For Tears looking safe to hold on to the T20?

I'd like to say yes but as we know from the past couple of weeks it's usually Top 20 all week but drops out at the last minute. It's currently 700 ahead of #21.

I thought that people would stream music more if they were stuck at home.

Still in the shop because it's not considered an essential shop and, anyway, not many weddings are taking place atm.

Going by the streams on the Spotify chart ('drivers license' aside), it doesn't seem so. I guess people may tend to stream more when they're on the go, or at parties at the weekend.

yes it seems to be that lockdown gives more of a boost to Netflix than Spotify. people don’t generally sit down to listen to music like they do for TV.
For many of us, streaming is part of our commute. That’s gone away with working from home. I believe that is one of many factors contributing to the less than stellar streaming figures.
but haven't the UK been in lockdown before? like last year? or is it only now that people are at home/not commuting?

I guess the difference is that the first UK lockdown saw some really hot weather which meant people were playing Spotify whilst out enjoying the sun.

are the NOW! albums more popular that ever now ?

No because you can just stream any playlist rather than buy a CD.

It makes me sad because, as described in this thread, listening to music is no longer an event for the majority of people. It’s something to have on in the background, something to not really think about.

I started my vinyl collection just over 2 years ago and I’ve really gotten back into properly listening to what I’m listening to. But the, I’ve never been one to stream.
