January 25, 20214 yr He has stated that multiple times before winning the elections, but idk wjhat the current state is I don't think he has said explicitly that he won't run for a second term although he has dropped some fairly heavy hints.
January 26, 20214 yr This is...a choice? Does this mean I can choose not to count Trump because he didn't fulfil the role of President at any point? Do we get to pick and choose our own historical narratives now too? HILLARY WON IN 2016 WITH 538 ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES. In fairness it's pretty well documented (according to my many hours of poring over FiveThirtyEight articles in election season) that the incumbent effect is not as strong when the incumbent was appointed rather than elected. That's at least part of the reason Raphael Warnock consistently did better than Jon Ossoff for example. It's kind of a moot point because, as Iz said, precedents only hold until they don't hold any more (and with elections only happening once every four years there's not near enough data to make such confident predictions based on the previous trends), but there's a pretty clear difference between Ford and Trump.
February 3, 20214 yr Author @1354902299550883845 Very exciting that the Biden administration invited Kate Raworth (author of Dougnut Economics) to speak to them last year - signs of some very forward thinking policies to come in the term ahead ? If you haven't read it - please do - it's a fantastic insight into how we can change the world economy for the better.
February 4, 20214 yr It is good Trump has been having a quiet retirement so far and we haven't heard much from him in the media recently.
February 4, 20214 yr The authorities in Georgia have opened an investigation into potential illegal voting. the subject of that investigation is a pro-Trump lawyer so I think we can guess who he voted for. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-elect...-fraud-n1256554
February 4, 20214 yr It is good Trump has been having a quiet retirement so far and we haven't heard much from him in the media recently. Chris has been fairly quiet too, I hope he’s ok.
February 4, 20214 yr It is good Trump has been having a quiet retirement so far and we haven't heard much from him in the media recently. No-platforming works.
February 4, 20214 yr Chris has been fairly quiet too, I hope he’s ok. With brexshit an absolute disaster and Trump gone and melting away what is there left for him to say? He'll be back once Bojo starts getting hammered over his record by Piers Morgan.
February 4, 20214 yr It is good Trump has been having a quiet retirement so far and we haven't heard much from him in the media recently. He’s focusing on the important matters @1357411918919700491
February 4, 20214 yr He’s focusing on the important matters @1357411918919700491 Looks pretty genuine. After all, claiming not to be familiar with their work and then criticising that work is standard Trump behaviour.
February 13, 20214 yr Author Sorry to pollute this thread with more Trump now that he has gone - but to the surprise of absolutely nobody the US Senate has aquitted him for a second time. @1360692794122190849
February 13, 20214 yr yeap, no surprise there...it's so frustrating though. this country will never unify and the day the Trump entered WH it was the day that America got further divided!!!
February 13, 20214 yr Not unexpected, but disgraceful nonetheless, I don't know how anyone can look at the evidence and say with a straight face that was he was not guilty. Still, there's the hope of future charges and inquiries with a less biased jury.
February 13, 20214 yr We all knew this would happen etc. but interestingly enough that means there's two Republicans (Burr and Cassidy I believe?) who voted to convict after previously voting that it was unconstitutional to even be holding the trial, and one of those two voted against continuing the trial again only a few days ago. 17 Republicans would have needed to vote to convict, which would be 17 times more than the total number of Senators who have ever voted to convict a president from their own party (Romney voting to convict on one of the two charges last time was the only previous such vote). Getting as many as 7 is still a pretty noteworthy repudiation even if it's entirely symbolic and meaningless.
February 19, 20214 yr Good to see Ted Cruz has done his best mayor Quimby imprerssion during the energy and cold weather crisis in Texas this week.
February 19, 20214 yr The video of him “explaining” with chants of RESIGN in the background has made my day. It’s almost comical levels of ridiculousness.
