February 19, 20214 yr I hope if it is James it’s upbeat. Something like Tom Grennan’s ‘Little Bit of Love’. Something anthemic but not cheesy Eurovision that the BBC like to send. It's James! With something "positive and upbeat"!
February 19, 20214 yr Hmm.. I actually liked 'My Last Breath' a fair bit! However, his live acoustic of it wasn't great. :( Hopefully this is solid at least!
February 19, 20214 yr I'm pleased for James, just confused what took the BBC so long after many artists were re-confirmed last March and April, surely this was known and they could've just told us last week instead of promising news "soon" Also very pleased that he's promising something that people can 'dance to'
February 19, 20214 yr This feels like the ''right'' decision. I'm not too excited, My Last Breath was quite good, but I'm just glad it's someone competent who can write a decent song.
February 19, 20214 yr It's a good decision, he deserves his opportunity. For any broadcaster selecting internally it almost feels like a smack in the face not to go with the same artist again. I liked but didn't love My Last Breath, though it's reassuring that it appeared in a couple of the votes last year from countries who hosted their own Eurovision show, like Sweden, so depending on the song he may have more of a chance than we've had since Lucie to do relatively ok.
February 19, 20214 yr Glad James is getting a chance - I liked last years song but it was never going to win/probably wasn’t going to go any higher than 20th
February 19, 20214 yr Meh. I didn’t like last years entry so this will be boring too. I don’t see any issue with assuming the entire input of an artist will be boring, based on one song. “One Last Breath” was competent if perhaps uninspiring, but regardless he deserves the opportunity just like every other 2020 entrant.
February 19, 20214 yr I feel a lot of people will have the same logic. Which means a rogue ballad that will appear will really stand out.
February 19, 20214 yr Maybe something with Ed Sheeran’s ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ and ‘Sing’ vibes?
February 19, 20214 yr Author Like others have said, for most of the 2020 cohort it feels like a case of fair play to have them back for 2021. You'd hope they've had the opportunity to learn from experience last time round (and they conveniently avoided what I think would have potentially been a very disappointing result for them is 2020 had gone ahead) and lean in more to James's home genre of more dance-y music. There's definitely potential for something good but I'll be damned if I get my hopes up over a UK entry for a very long time!
February 20, 20214 yr Glad he is getting another chance but why was this not announced months ago lol ~ His song last year was a little flat to me but it definitely had promising elements, hopefully they'll come up with something slightly better second time around.
February 20, 20214 yr Even if it turns out to be a poor song, he deserves another chance Nah I have high expectations for returning entrants, him most of all. I hope his return is because he has something competitive ready, I’m fairly sure he’s capable of such.
February 20, 20214 yr I feel a lot of people will have the same logic. Which means a rogue ballad that will appear will really stand out. *cough*France*cough*
