This definitely took time to settle with me, as did No Time for Tears.
I am just wondering what would have happened if Sweet Melody had the same level of push Heartbreak anthem has!

If it becomes a US hit there's nothing stopping it being pushed again in the US.

Plenty artists have had hits in the UK or US first that were then re-released after another of their songs takes off there.

Problem is trying to 'launch' them in the US with Jesy still on the track and video.

Anyways I found it interesting that the girls wrote this. I was always under the impression that the producer also writes the song and then reaches out to artists to demo the track? And considering it seems like they wrote it back in the summer/autumn as a 3 piece (on Leigh's documentary) they must have known Jesy was leaving for ages.

Jade, Leigh and Perrie often write together though, I genuinely think Jesy's leaving still came as a shock around the Search final/Confetti/Sweet Melody, I think it was Halloween since that's when Jesy had her breakdown and realisation.

Jesy was originally on the song, so I imagine it was always planned w/her, just not written by her.

In Galantis' interview with Metro they said that Jesy was on the original track and they re-worked it and the girls sang the whole song each then decided who's part should go where...

'The group began working on the song with Galantis and Guetta before the coronavirus pandemic so Jesy’s vocals were included in the arrangement.

Recalling the origins of the song, Galantis producer and songwriter Christian Karlsson, told Metro.co.uk: ‘Little Mix came in pretty early on but they’re so hardworking with their vocals, it was cool to see how they’re perfectionists. I like that, I’m one myself. ‘It was fun to watch them – every detail with the ad libs was very important to them.’ Revealing what had to be changed once Jesy left, Christian said: ‘Not lyrics but a little bit of arrangement and changing vocals and stuff. They’re so professional. They all sang it all, the whole thing. Every single part of the song was sung by all of them. Then they were deciding on, [who was doing what part].

‘It’s cool because usually that’s my job as a producer but they know what they want and how to get it there. For the vocals, I could sit back and just watch them do what they do. I’m happy I did because it came out amazing.’

I feel like Jesy originally sung the 2nd verse because the way Jade sings it, it's almost as if she seems to be imitating Jesy's vocal style a bit when she sings "wearing out this bullet proof vest, but I'll be okay, I'm okayyyy."

I'm a songwriter, producers reach out to me to write over their beats but I don't intend to release music using my vocals. There's so many ways to write songs and this way is very common.

Jesy never had interest in writing for the group, notice that at least one of the girls (if not the current 3) have writing credits for most of the songs on Confetti, yet Jesy has none. On LM5 she only got credited for two of the songs.

On the topic of songwriters, a band my brother works with were recently given a song, intended for Little Mix, to record - it sounds pretty good from what I've been played!

Kinda a mid-tempo 80s inspired tune

That's true. They could maybe recut the video though. Refilming it is unfortunately out of the question unless they make it a Jade showcase!

That's interesting! Do let us know if they release it! ^_^

God I wish the Spotify updates would come sooner in the day. 8pm yesterday was ridiculous 🥴
