Isn’t that the 1f version? It’s very similar if not, available on iTunes as an EP released early this year…
Sold 2,706 in the end, only up 536 from Tuesday. I'm surprised the album sold so poorly throughout the week, perhaps I've just been looking in the right places but Laura Mvula's been all I've seen online this week. Sales were really close this week so it was easy for the album to slip away with streaming not on side - only 247 copies away from #12.

I suppose our best hope is it can hopefully become one of those albums that establishes a cult following and picks up a few sales that way over time.

Such a glorious album!

Such a disappointing and undeserving chart position. The charts have been a mess for years now, but the fact she couldn't even get into the top 20 is really upsetting. It's not surprising when you see how low her album tracks streams are, but still. Laura deserves so much more and streaming has totally ruined a lot of artists, as most people only seem to be interested in putting basic playlists on repeat that includes the most basis of songs that will turn into a hit.

Really wanted this to chart higher. The album is magic.

I have streamed it from start to finish at least once per day this week.

Album sales are so dismal.

Shame on me, I didn't even know that existed!! It is indeed the same version

#21 is such an upsetting position, especially knowing it was so close to the top 20 and even the top 15. It deserves SO much more :(

I gave this a listen this week and enjoyed it, will probably add it to regular rotation. Safe Passage was brilliant, loving the track with Simon Neil and the others released before had been decent. Only really familiar with a couple of songs of hers previously, always categorised what I'd heard of hers in that bracket of 'fine, but not really for me'

I think I assumed she was a bigger than she obviously is, thought an album would chart comfortably higher than that.

In fairness, #21 is the same position her last album charted at, I don't think it's that awful that she's at least matched that despite how much the nature of the album chart has changed since that last release. It'd probably feel less disappointing if it weren't for the 'false hope' of it being in the top 5 in the early midweeks (which increasingly doesn't mean a lot for albums that don't have a strong streaming presence with how close together sales are beyond the top few positions). Put into perspective, her last album only got to #16 on the sales chart (so streaming only pushed it down 5 places) whereas this one has ended up in the same overall position despite an improvement to as high as #4 on the sales chart. Her first album did do pretty well off the back of the Sound of... hype but I don't think she's really had the mainstream visibility to expect her to still be much of a commercial force 8 years later.

Chart discussion aside I really wish I was getting the hype around this era more than I am considering the glowing reviews from people who I usually agree with - I have thought all of the singles were decent but really not a lot more than that, have not heard anything that made me want to give a second listen :( I might give another listen back to the previous singles at some point to see if they will click more as it was a while ago that I heard them but I only heard 'What Matters' the other day already being conscious of the hype around her and even then it wasn't doing much for me. At least 'Green Garden' is still a timeless classic x

Its a shame it dropped so much from the mids, i think if it held on top 20 i would be much happier but it narrowly missed out, unfortunately it didnt chart in the top 100 here in Ireland

I'm with Bre regarding the album, there's some nice production throughout but I'm not as crazy about it on the whole as I was wanting to be. :(

'Got Me' is fantastic though, can't get enough of that at the moment!

I'm hoping the award noms for this album are in the bag. It strikes me as such a safe bet to be nominated for something like the Mercurys etc.. so I'm hoping they're not as reliant on the chart impact. I think a Best British Album at the Brits next year is out of the question now though, but maybe not a female nomination.
