Only #1 though?

I was hoping he would get decent sales and the big albums usually get both versions top 5/10, still be number one though but maybe on 30k sales. Not to be sniffed at though I guess!

Giant is Calvin's song primarily, and Human and Skin were four years ago. This era has been big on iTunes (two #1 hits on sales with good longevity even if that means less than it used to), but streaming comparatively has been less good. It's not unexpected for an artist like him really.

Yeh the current single is def Radio 2 style fodder!

Rag & Bone Man is doing well across most platforms TBF

Ugh this snobbish attitude.

Some people quite enjoy radio 2 hits and would describe the current no.1 as ‘fodder’.

I love the song and listen to Radio 2 everyday mate, I was just describing the type of song/audience it appeals to, not being snobbish at all.
I'm really worried about how badly Bebe will do 😬
The CD is apparently coming out in July lmao. Although we have it on order so I think it'll be one of those when we have it we can sell it. But yeah, no CD yet.

But we have CD singles for Coldplay's new song 🙃

Oh god I won't even expect it Top 100 then low key, Julia Michaels didn't go Top 100 either.

oh love that Coldplay are releasing CD singles

it might have been better to go for vinyl singles, considering how people are obsessed with vinyl now

Why what offends you so easily about it?

Fodder is a derogatory term. It’s literally means ‘shit’. I don’t particularly like the song being described that way however people are welcome to their own opinion. However, I’m more irritated with the term ‘radio 2 fodder’ which basically says that radio 2 just play a load of crap.

I thought 'fodder' meant generic food? In terms of music I'd say it means a sound that typically feeds a specific type of audience?

Apologies, misconception on my part. But the point still stands that it’s derogatory, particularly in the way it was used in this thread.

For what it's worth I don't think the phrase "radio 2 fodder" came across as derogatory at all, I just took it to mean it's the kind of song that's more suited to Radio 2 which it definitely is. Anyway despite the limited success of the singles, I can see Rag'n'Bone Man doing big numbers with his album!
I think "limited success" comes back to the argument about streaming for Rag'n'Bone Man. By now, I think we all know iTunes skews to slightly older music fans while streaming is very much for younger people on the whole. I expect it's not really surprising to many that Rag'n'Bone Man would be targeting an older audience than the likes of Joel Corry, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, etc, so it makes perfect sense that his singles have (relatively) great iTunes performances and falter somewhat on streaming. This to me indicates that the singles are resonating with his target audience pretty well - two long-running sales #1s is more than most artists with similar marketing! This is the audience that will go out and buy CDs for his album, so I think he'll have a pretty great first week tally and some strong physical sales.

Just checked, totally have forgotten how well Rag n Bone Man did with his debut

He did 117K on week 1!!!! and is Platinum x4 (1,2 million)

He will of course be #1 this week with decent figures, but these days the physical sales cannot help much further (outside the Christmas season at least), so decent streaming numbers are a must for even a month in top ten I'd say.
