Technically its most successful run of all was for a Euro, since the song was originally made for Euro 1996

It re-entered the low end of the top 100 for a week each in 2012 (#77) and 2016 (#84) so yeah, not nearly as much impact as the World Cup gives it. (It didn't chart at all in 2008 for fairly obvious reasons, and 2000/04 were before the digital era of course and I presume it didn't get a physical re-release like it did in 2002). I expect it'll chart a bit higher this year unless England completely bomb (and it still might even then).

Yeh much as I suspected, thanks Bre. I know it was released of course for Euro 96 but that was obviously due to Euro 96 being the first home tournament in 30 years which was the whole premise of the song . But he’s in footballing terms World Cups are the bigger event.

It might do better this year purely on the fact that football is literally coming home with matches played in England for the first time since 96.
The Lightning Seeds need to capitalize and release a new single.

I knew they were still together, so I'm surprised to see they've released nothing since 2009!

NO OTHER SALES INFO

I knew they were still together, so I'm surprised to see they've released nothing since 2009!

The only original member is Ian Broudie and it's always effectively been him and a succession of backing musicians, making it hard to say whether they count as being "still together".

Yayyyy get that second top 20 hit Måneskin :cheer:

Hope ‘Save Your Tears’ can hold on to #2 and ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ top 5.

Well, the name is still active I suppose

Oliver Twist now comfortably on course for a Top 10 debut, could be Top 5 next week.

Good to see Måneskin in the Top 20 and Billie holding strong.

They/he is touring in September, plague permitting. I was due to see them last March before "the event" (if the gig was 2 days earlier, it would have gone ahead), so I should finally get to see the Lightning Seeds in 3 months time. If 3 Lions does get a significant boost over this period, it could translate to a few more ticket sales. Don't think it'll lead to new Lightning Seeds material; Ian Broudie seems happy enough to just play the hits from their 90s heyday (he's more or less disowned their 2009 album, claiming that it should never have been released as a Lightning Seeds album).
Have Little Mix (Confetti) managed to hold at 10 or is Rasputin still clinging on?

Rasputin would be listed as a climber if so! Little Mix are #10

Great thanks

that 2009 album from Lightning Seeds totally passed me by, though his last one was Tilt from 99 :)

good to see Traitor back in the charts, hope it holds on

The Official Charts Company Midweek Sales Flash is in, and OIivia Rodrigo looks set for another week of singles chart glory, with Good 4 U sitting pretty at No.1

This week, the track has 59,789 sales so far, and is out in front of The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears (26,402 sales) and Doja Cat & Sza’s Kiss Me More (24,805 sales. Rodrigo’s Deja Vu (22,113 sales) and Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix’s Heartbreak Anthem (17,317 sales) complete the Top 5, with Rodrigo’s Traitor (17,027 sales) close behind.

In the albums chart, Wolf Alice continue their bid to end Rodrigo’s reign and score their first ever No.1, as Blue Weekend (31,189 sales) ticks past the 30,000 mark. Rodrigo’s Sour (15,920 sales) is at No.2, with new entries from James (All The Colours Of You, 12,196 sales) and Crowded House (Dreamers Are Waiting, 4,794 sales) ahead of Rag’N’Bone Man’s Life By Misadventure (3,779 sales) in the Top 5.
