So will games be canned then? I enjoy watching the extra games over the holidays but there’s not much point of matches keep getting postponed. Won’t 2022 be a busy year on the football calendar again? How many matches have Spurs lost far? Is it 3? Not forgetting the delays due to the snowy weather end of last month.

Absolute nightmare for Fantasy football from a selfish perspective too :basil:

They'd have to scrap the FA Cup to get all the games in I reckon. It's weird how this seems to be disproportionately affecting the Premier League compared with the lower leagues though.

Clubs want a pause and if support a week pause, but nothing has happened yet. I still say a break is counterintuitive unless players are told to be in a bubble and not train. The games won’t be canned, they will be played at some point but there’s a lack of space in the calendar.

Ive seen Suggestions that the Prem is a lot less vaccinated than other comparable leagues like the Bundesliga, but not sure what the stats are on the other tiers of English football are.

Something about the Prem culture and the attitude and morals/ethics of the players and staff it attracts

The cynic in me thinks the lower league clubs are keeping it shush as they can't risk the financial hit of postponing/cancelling games as much as the Prem ones.
It’s why I don’t think pausing the season is going to do any good. If everyone gets vaccinated then maybe I’d think differently, but otherwise you’re just creating another problem further down the line. Possibly if they scrap FA Cup replays and the 2nd leg of the league cup then things might be different, but there’s a real lack of gaps in the calendar for clubs in Europe. It’s why I suspect the games this weekend will go ahead unless any further covid cases.
It isn't an easy dilemma to resolve and I'm glad I'm not the one making the decisions! I can see both sides of the argument and both are far from perfect, although that's the situation we're in...

Howe saying Newcastle had a game two days ago they played Thursday not Friday .

This seems a very modern thing where managers only count whole days between games to highlight any “congestion” of fixtures

Suspect Howe would funnily enough have no issue with games being postponed till January .

His 5 points in 6 games isn’t a great return so far , that ratio would not even get then to 30 points

To be fair with clear cut penalties like this not being given - we're not going anywhere other than the championship - even the Sky pundits and comms were laughing at VARs excuses of 'Cancelo came away with the ball...'

8 wins in a row in the league now for Manchester City and more dropped points for Chelsea today. Chelsea are only 6 points ahead of Arsenal now who are in 4th, they're 11 points ahead of us but we've got 2 games in hand.

Chelsea have been hit with covid and injuries and it's showing. Like I have said before, unless people want the league to be over by the end of this year then they need to be cheering for Liverpool wins! There's no way either Arsenal or Man Utd are catching Chelsea though.

I don't even really care who wins the league this season tbh as none of the outcomes will be good, the league already feels over in that sense. If Chelsea continue to drop points then it wont be long until Arsenal or Man United do catch them.

Yeah, but you're forgetting that all teams go through blips. Chelsea already have the advantage and Arsenal and Man Utd will drop plenty more points.

Andy Robertson is the first player to score, assist and be sent off in the same Premier League game since Aleksandar Mitrovic in May 2016 for Newcastle - also against Spurs.
If they were gonna stop things you’d have thought the weekends and midweeks would have been ideal to give a 10 day break, only think is certain is that COVID will be there no matter how long a break there is!
Good to see VAR decided not to send Kane off today since he was England captain!

I think the idea is, covid is still there but then it gives everyone a chance to recouperate. There's not even a chance to play a rotated squad if you have 4-5 players out with covid, I think if the Premier League want games to go ahead then that's got to happen.

One of the worst referring performances I've ever had the witness of seeing. Just do not get why VAR intervened with Robertson but not Kane. Our referees are absolutely shite.

Yeh I didn’t watch but seen it on Twitter, spurs did seem to deserve the draw tho! Can only see City doing what they did last season between now and when the champions league returns in Feb!
